History

Frans Ridderkerk was an inept painter who lived in the 17th century. He was driven to crime in an attempt to learn the secrets of his competitors. While he had been spying on his rivals in order to learn their techniques, Ridderkerk was able to rob from a number of residences. That was when a resident caught him in the act and was beaten for his trouble. Yet Ridderkerk still had trouble producing original art. When he heard about a famous painter known as Hendrick Rammp, Frans wanted to meet him. He threatened Hendrick with bodily harm if the old man failed to teach him his secrets. He agreed to sit for a portrait by Rammp. He found the old man's secret to his doom, for the man was revealed to be magical sorcerer. Thus, Ridderkerk became just another subject, trapped in a painting.[1]
