History

Susanoo (スサノオ) is the Shinto god of the storm and seas. After slaying the monstrous serpent Yamata-no-Orochi, Susanoo found the Grasscutter Sword inside its belly and offered it to his sister, the goddess Amaterasu. Centuries ago, somewhere in the Aegean Sea, Susanoo developed a relationship with the naiad who would one day become Venus.

In modern times, when the Shinto god of evil Mikaboshi returned from a campaign across the galaxy with an army of enslaved extraterrestrial deities under his control, he attacked and conquered Susanoo and the other Amatsu-Kami.  Susanoo and the Amatsu-Kami, now under Mikaboshi’s control, lured the "God Squad" (an alliance consisting of Silver Surfer, Venus, Sersi, Daimon Hellstrom and Bast) to their home of Takamagahara (the Plain of High Heaven) within the realm of Ama and presented them with a plan to defeat Mikaboshi by imprisoning him within Yomi (the Shinto underworld), where the Amatsu-Kami had previously imprisoned him for centuries.  However, once the God Squad were led to the temple within Takamagahara that contained the sealed gateway to Yomi, the Amatsu-Kami revealed that they were under Mikaboshi’s control and turned on the God Squad.  Susanoo attacked his former lover Venus, but was quickly cut in half by Daimon Hellstorm’s Trident.  In his final breaths, Susanoo regained control of his actions and requested that Venus defeat Mikaboshi.
