Sara Harrington was a staff member at the Daily Bugle who stole information from Ben Urich and exposed Daredevil using tabloids. In an attempt to support her theory, she even took television cameras to Matt Murdock's residence. She was then arrested.

History

Sara Harrington was an intern[1] who had just started working in the New York City newspaper The Daily Bugle, officially helping veteran journalist Ben Urich. While they were working, Bugle owner J. Jonah Jameson interrupted them so shay that the newspaper had to be shut down for one day, the papers' computers being disconnected. So as to not lose the work they had advanced, Urich had Harrington illegal hack in the Bugle files to obtain Urich's own stories. Although Urich had tried to instill patience in Harrington,[2] he himself got impatient and pressed Harrington to get results. While doing so, Harrington found an unpublished investigation by Urich revealing that blind lawyer Matthew Murdock was really the superhero Daredevil, something that Urich had discovered but not shared.[3] Deciding that this would be a big story for herself, Harrington worked to obtain more documents that validate the proof.[4] In the process, she even sneaked physically at Urich's home in the night, and Urich reacted at the barely-seen intruder by hitting her in the hand with a bat - which required Harrington to bandage her hand. The following morning, when Urich saw Harrington's bandaged hand, he suspected.[5]

Harrington tried to sell her story to the Big Apple Advocate, an ill-reputed tabloid; to cover their backs, they used the headline "Matt Murdock is Daredevil?" with a question mark.[6] Urich publicly confronted Harrington at the restaurant Greasy Spoon Diner; later, she was interviewed by TV reporter Robert Dennehy of WFET news in front of Murdock's apartment, then Urich burst to accuse her of breaking and entering, and claiming that she had no proof, with the TV cameras watching. Murdock's lawyer friend "Foggy" Nelson contacted Judge Carter[1] to get a restraining order against Harrington so that she could not harass Murdock[1] (whose apartment was already targetted by criminals angry at Daredevil).[7]

Harrington went to Murdock's apartment with WFET news, including Dennehy. While Nelson presented the restraint order, Harrington ignored him and entered the apartment. The TV found an apartment adapted for a blind man, with padded furniture and braille maps[7] (which Murdock himself had modified the previous night)[1] which made Harrington ridiculous. Harrington was next arrested by the Computer Crimes Division of FBI under charges of phone fraud (even if she had hoped for at least section 1030 computer intrusion).[7]
