The mall assigned to UltraTech to serve Bob Campbell and after the accident that cost Campbell's arm told the story and character to an ultraTech agent.[13] When Jimmy Ryiz took Campbell's place as Prototype, Hastings moved on to serve Ruiz as imposed on him by UltraTech.[14] He tried to prevent Ruiz from intervening in a clash by using a remote control to disable the Prototype armor but Ruiz had already disabled it.[15] During a clash between Ultra, Hasting remains outside the Ultratech headquarters unable to intervene in aid of Ruiz.[11] Hasting becomes a victim of UltraTech's change of ownership by losing his job as a Prototype valet.[16]
