History

William Leese was a double-agent working for Nazi Germany during the early days of World War II, operating in London as a common Cockney cab driver named Alfie. Given a small array of devices that simulated super-powers, he approached a number of U.K. citizens posing as a government agent, giving them the devices which they used as the Crusaders. This was all part of a rather convoluted plan to discredit the Invaders while also assassinating King George VI which was uncovered by one Crusader, the miniaturized son of Union Jack called Dyna-Mite. Working together, the Crusaders and the Invaders foiled the assassination, while Alfie died in a car accident caused by fireballs flung by the Human Torch. With the source of the devices' power gone, the Crusaders disbanded. [citation needed]
