Synopsis for "Before The Devil Knows We're Dead (Chapter Three)"

The Purifier that killed Fantomex and Psylocke is standing at the gates of heaven. Deadpool, the gatekeeper, says that he has to tell him where Jonathan Standish is and what his plans are if he wants to gain entrance. It turns out that Fantomex misdirected the Purifier into thinking that the bomb had gone off. From there, Psylocke made him believe he ascended to heaven so that he would reveal Standish's location.

Psylocke says that Standish was originally based in Nebreska, but he and his Purifiers have fled in a C-130 plane hoping to execute one more plan. She goes on to say that he has built a bomb that will emit an electromagnetic pulse that will shut down every human brain within a 25 square mile radius of the blast. Since he wants to take the lives of as many superhumans as possible, Wolverine quickly deduces that he's going to attack New York City.

Onboard his plane, while his Purifiers keep back other planes that are trying to shoot them down, Standish thinks about the times a person would come into his hospital because of a run-in with a superhero. And the more there were and the stronger they became, the greater the threats that plagued the world. Standish hopes that his actions will save people.

All of a sudden, an F-15 fires a missile at Standish's plane. Fearing that it will inadvertently detonate the bomb, Fantomex intercepts the missile with E.V.A., bringing them down. As the team plummets, Wolverine uses his body to protect Psylocke from the impact while Archangel goes after the plane. At the same time, Fantomex attempts to land E.V.A. in Chinatown. Meanwhile, Archangel tries to stop the plane from crashing, but it has taken too much damage, so he is forced to remove the wings of the plan so that they will not cause the bomb to explode when the plane comes crashing to the ground.

Standish emerges from the plane unharmed and sees that they have crashed near a church. Archangel attacks him but is shot in the side in retaliation. Then, Standish goes to activate the bomb, but Deadpool stops him by cutting off his hand. Standish tells them that he wanted to save people, however Wolverine says that the boy he killed wanted to save people too and decapitates him. With their mission complete, X-Force marvels at the beautiful church.
