Quote1 She died fighting you, Calvin. You monster! You're supposed to know better! You're supposed to be the great hero! Well--great hero--how could you come back to us with a monster living inside you! Look what you did! You should have killed yourself! You coward! How could you let this happen?! She's just a girl! She's 20 years old, you maniac! And now she's dead! Quote2

Synopsis for "Fantastic Voyage: Part 3 of 3"

As the Brood Embryo hatches within Mimic, he escapes from Reed, Tony, Ben and Morph at the shoreline to Times Square, looking for other unsuspecting Heroes to fight so that his healing factor can't stop the embryo.

He finds just that, and one by one, takes out all the members of the Exiles as well as the newly formed Fantastic Four. At the same time, the Brood egg allows him to mimic an unlimited number of powers, so every hero he fights gives him their powers as well.

While the fight rages on, Reed, Doc Ock, and Tony Stark develop a formula to allow Mimic's healing factor to go into overdrive. Once completed, they have Nocturne attempt to possess him while Thing runs up and injects the formula into Mimic's eye. The formula works, and Mimic's healing factor kills the Brood Egg, and returns him to normal.

Sadly, in the battle, Mariko became trapped under the rubble of a building she was keeping from falling on civilians. She suffocated to death. Morph rages at Mimic, since he deeply cared about Sunfire, and she was only 20 years old. Being the seasoned veteran at hero-ing, Mimic should have killed himself when he knew he had the egg inside him, or at the very least, told his team about it as soon as he met up with them. His withholding this fact cost them dearly.

Sunfire's replacement pops in immediately, and it's Blink. She's back!

Solicit Synopsis

The Exiles' inter-dimensional detour with the FANTASTIC FOUR takes a turn for the worse ... and has devastating consequences for not one - but TWO Exiles!

Notes

  • In this issue, Mimic has the powers of Colossus, Wolverine, Beast, Cyclops, and Northstar, all at half potency. He gains The Human Torch, Nocturne, Sunfire, Morph, Sasquatch, and Thing's abilities due to the Brood Queen Egg hatching inside of him.
