Elmer Cecil Stoner was an African-American comic book artist from Harlem, New York City. He was mainly active in the 1930s and 1940s, and is considered the earliest known African-American comic book artist. His art appeared in the first issue of Detective Comics (1937). His subsequent credits include works for Timely Comics; Street & Smith; EC Comics. His most famous creation was the series "Blackstone, Master Magician" for EC Comics. It was published on-and-off between 1944 and 1948, and received its own radio adaptation.
