The "Earth-TRN566" used on this page is an unofficial Temporary Reality Number that was assigned by our wiki until an official designation is provided by Marvel.
History
The Dweller in Darkness was an extra-dimensional entity and a a true offspring of Cthulhu.[1]
The Dweller-In-Darkness fractured the M'Kraan Crystal in an effort to destroy reality as a whole, creating fear throughout the universe that would feed his appetites. Instead, the Phoenix Force united the minds of the dying universe, preventing them from being afraid.[2]Notes
- The Dweller-in-Darkness is seemingly inspired by the Cthulhu Mythos. In the Mythos-riddled Adventures of the X-Men #12 (now considered non-canon within Earth-616), he was stated to be the spawn of Cthulhu. That information was reprised in the corrections of his entry in the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe (Vol. 4) #10. Furthermore, "The Dweller in Darkness" is a story by August Derleth and featuring Nyarlathotep.
