Synopsis for "Chiller!"Edit
Allison and Janet go out to see Bob Benson's new horror film called Maniac, however Alison finds the film too scary and leaves the theatre before the film is over. Returning to her home, Alison gets a call from Roman Nekoboh who wants to take her to an influential Hollywood party, a party which Roman assures Alison would be good for her career. However, when Alison arrives at the party, any attempt she makes to network with influential people is warded off by the over protective and jealous Nekoboh.
This only works for so long until Alison meets with Bob Bensen who asks Alison to be an extra in a music video for the musician Teddy Lingard. After Bob leaves, Roman warns her that Bob is bad luck, before Alison can dismiss this as sheer nonsense there is an explosion outside. Going out to investigate Alison finds that Bob's car has exploded and uses her light powers to find his injured (but still alive) body. Alison learns that Benson has been "jinxed" and this is one of many accidents that has happened near him since taking on the Lingard job.
The next day after her aerobics class is done, Alison takes Bob up on his offer for an audition was still open. Visiting Bob at the studio, Alison shows off her dance moves and gets the gig. Later, she reports on the set and she is made up to look like a zombie, part of the horror movie theme for the song she will appear in called "Chiller."
After a number of shots, Bob sets up the next scene which would involve zombies coming out of their graves, which would require Alison and some of the other actors to be buried under ground. However, Bob has been the one behind the "jinx's" to bring more publicity to his works and intends to remove the air hose in Alison's grave so that she dies on the set for these ends.
However, Alison, having realized something is up uses her light powers to break out of the grave and appearing to have risen from the dead and accuses Benson of murdering her. The frightened Benson confesses his whole plot, little realizing he's doing so in front of the TV news crew that he called to witness the "accident." Alison reveals the ruse and explains that she became suspicious due to the ease that she got the job and noticed that her grave was lacking an air hose. When Benson tries to escape, Lingard trips him up and he is taken away by the police.
- Teddy Lingard is obviously based on musician Michael Jackson, who at the time of this publication had a hit song called "Thriller" which had a horror movie/zombie theme. The video was directed by John Landis who was hired on to direct the music video by Jackson who was a big fan of John's film "An American Werewolf in London". Teddy Lingard's wondering about what the "guy who directed An American Werewolf in London" at the end of the story is a nod to this.
- No trivia.
