David Andrews and his brother, Bobby, grew up in a troubled household in Youngstown, Ohio, both being physically and emotionally abused by their mother.[1] After dropping out of community college, David joined the Church of Human Potential. He was subsequently lured into volunteering for Weapon X, which turned him into a mindless Adamantium killer cyborg.[2]

Salvaged by the Hulk

Together with another cyborg, Andrews went after the new Hulk, Amadeus Cho, in order to retrieve a blood sample so Weapon X could continue refining their robots. Hulk played possum after the other cyborg self-destructed and exploded, and managed to catch Andrews by surprise when he approached to take the blood sample. Hulk then used a piece of Adamantium scrap left by the other cyborg to cut Andrews in half, separating the portion of his body that stored the self-destruct mechanism from the rest.

Cho subsequently analyzed Andrews' body and found out genetic material from Logan, Sabretooth, Warpath, and Lady Deathstrike, which prompted him to track them down. Hulk them hacked into Andrews' data bank to determine the location of the facility where he was transformed into a cyborg.[3]

Dave continued being used by Amadeus for investigation. Hulk placed him into a vat of stasis fluid, which allowed him to regenerate as much organic tissue as it could, including his facial features. Cho ran him through a face scan, which allowed him to identify David's identity, and continue investigating Weapon X.[2]

  • In Totally Awesome Hulk #19, Hulk is attacked by a short-haired brunette and a long-haired blonde. Based on the cyborgs' physique, the male cyborg is the one that self-destructs, while the female cyborg is the one Hulk saves from its own self-destruction; however, in Weapons of Mutant Destruction: Alpha #1, the surviving cyborg is shown to be a blond man named David Andrews.
  • When he was a kid, Dave's mother killed his cat in front of him. She filmed it and saved the video in her phone.[2]
