History

In 1859, Danny, who had stopped talking after witnessing the murder of his parents, was kidnapped by a group of Marauders, who captured freaks, fools, and all types of misshapen folk off the streets of London and took them underground. Dr. Nathaniel Essex hired the thugs to continue their work, so he could perform experiments on the victims in the name of science.[4]

Salvation came, in the form of the time-travelers, Cyclops and Phoenix, who thwarted En Sabah Nur and Mister Sinister's plan to conquer the United Kingdom, so Oscar Stamp took Daniel journeyed to America to start a new life. At the immigration office, they claimed to be father and son, by the name of Summers, inspired by the married couple that had saved them from their fates.[1]

In America, Daniel met and married a woman, Amanda Müeller, and, after a string of miscarriages and his wife being labeled the Black Womb, they had one child. Still obsessed with the Summers' bloodline, Sinister operated an obstetrics facility, Essex Clinic, in New York, in the late 19th century, and performed side research on society's deviants, including the adult Daniel and his wife. After even more miscarriages with his wife, Daniel ultimately left his family.[5][3]
