The Congo is a geographic region of Africa composed of the two Congo countries: the Republic of the Congo and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (formerly known as Belgian Congo), crossed by the Congo river. An exclave of Angola, Cabinda, is also included in the area.

History

At the dawn of an ancient, "impiously aged", city in the Congo region, it was presumably overrun by great apes, which produced unholy "things", hybrid ape-men-like creatures half of the city and half of the jungle.

In 1750, Sir Wade Jermyn, an anthropologist of note, was one of the first explorers of the Congo region, and began his most important expedition. Despite unfavorable conditions, multiple deaths from beasts and jungle fever, and the abandonment of all survivors, Jermyn kept on and, after months of wanderings, found ancient ruins. He was assaulted by the ape-men and brought to their goddess. Jermyn thought he was going to killed, but was instead accepted as a member of the tribe, allowed to live among them and study their ways. After nearly a year among them, Jermyn left the city with the goddess, producing a lineage of crazed hybrids plagued by madness and violence.[1]
