Synopsis for "Before I'd Be Slave..."
The X-Men return to the Mansion to find Havok and Polaris ordering them inside and into costume. After a battle of words, they comply grudgingly, only to be briefed on the threat posed by the Z'Nox. It then comes out that there is a plan - masterminded by Professor X, who reveals that he hadn't died previously[1], but rather the Changeling had masqueraded and died as him. The X-Men train hard until there is no time left to lose, and then rocket off towards the south magnetic pole to battle the landing craft with the homing beacon. In the middle of a pitched battle, Professor X connects many of the minds on the planet, and broadcasts human compassion through Jean-Havok-Cyclops, and along Cyclops eye beams directly into the incoming world-ship of the Z'Nox. Overcome by the weak and unseemly sentiment, the Z'Nox flee, and the threat is ended.

Trivia
- Oddly, Professor X combines the psyches of a multitude of humans worldwide and has Lorna Dane project them towards "Death Valley" to help the X-Men...who are battling the Z'Nox at the South Pole.
