Synopsis for "War -- in a World of Darkness!"

Professor X has been captured, and the X-Men are trying to fix Cerebro to locate him. Jean goes back to college where her roommate gives her a phone message from Ted Roberts. She calls him, and then calls the rest of the X-Men. Angel and Iceman pick her up, having left Cyclops and Beast undisturbed working on Cerebro, and learn that Ralph Roberts has been taken prisoner and is now somewhere underground. Ted recaps what happened, and then takes them to an earth-borer. The three X-Men descend into the depths. There they battle and defeat Mole Man, who runs them into the river Lethe in pursuit of him, and forget who they are. He thus convinces them to aid him against Tyrannus. Between monologues by Tyrannus and Mole Man we learn Mole Man has been winning a war for rulership of the underground with a Diamond Android that has been unstoppable. But now Tyrannus has a robot with Ralph's Cobalt-alloy technology, and it will be invincible. Mole Man sends his android to attack Tyrannus, and Tyrannus sends his to battle it. Meanwhile, Cyclops and Beast found Warren and Bobby's note and have journeyed down after them, tracking the route they took. The robots battle, and the cobalt robot is victorious. However, the X-Men currently loyal to Mole Man attack, fighting to Tyrannus' command room. Unfortunately for Mole Man, Cyclops and Beast burst in on him. and force him to provide a device which can restore their teammates memories. Having bested both would-be monarchs, they deposit them by the River Lethe to forget their animosity and return to the surface.
