Synopsis for "If It Ain't Broke...!"
This issue opens with Mr. Fixit (aka The Grey Hulk) raving in his suite at the Sovereign Hotel in Madripoor. Apparently, while he was asleep during the day, someone had broken into his room, replaced all of his clothes with giant purple pants, and had left a note reading "We know who you are! Get out of town!". Looking for answers, Fixit goes to the one place to find them: the Princess Bar. Blasting through the door, Fixit first runs into a miffed O'Donnell. After lifting him off the ground and placing money in his pockets to replace the broken door, Fixit asks for "Patch" (Wolverine's Madripoor alias).
Wolverine presents himself and Fixit says that he's come to find him because he needs information. At first, Wolverine proves reluctant but eventually agrees to help Fixit. Leaving the Princess Bar, a passing truck splashes Fixit with water - ruining his suit. Angry, Fixit leaps into the air and smashes the truck in half - unfortunately covering himself in industrial waste. He cleans himself off and dons his signature purple pants.
Fixit is intent of finding a "business man", which the reader knows to be General Coy, but first Wolverine leads Fixit to "Mr. Max's Spa" where the two are suddenly attacked by a group of men. Easily defeating the enemies, Fixit and Wolverine then discover that the "spa" was only a front for an illegal slave trafficking ring. Setting the prisoners free, Fixit then destroys the building with one punch behind him on the way out.
Fixit awakes the next night with fresh memories of his other identity, Banner, being surrounded by beautiful women and being waited on hand and foot. Unsure if these mental images were in fact memories or dreams Fixit tries to make sense of it all. Before he can figure too much out though the same women from his dreams come into the room only to shriek in horror at Fixit's appearance. Finding Wolverine, he learns that what he remembers actually did happen - angering Fixit as he intends to keep his Banner identity not only secret but also as non-existent as he can for his own personal reasons.
Leaving the brothel behind the two head out again. This time Wolverine leads him to a temple on a cliff. Telling him that what he's looking for is up there, Wolverine leads the way. Suddenly, Fixit finds himself alone as his guide has abruptly disappeared. Contemplating what to do next, Fixit has little time to react when all of a sudden the balcony under him gives way (Wolverine's doing) - sending him hundreds of feet downwards. At the bottom of the cliff, Fixit drops dead center into a cocaine refining and processing facility. Immediately attacked, he swiftly deals with his enemies and in the process destroys the facility.
When the dust settles General Coy and his two mutant henchmen, Bloodsport and Roughouse, arrives. Raving with anger Coy reveals that Fixit was in fact not sent to Madripoor to kill the General but was actually sent there to help him take down Tyger. Having figured this out a head of time, Wolverine had taken Fixit to the base of operations for both Coy's slave trafficking ring and drug distribution center - destroying them in the process. Taking pride in his "straight and narrow" business ethics, Fixit intends to return to the States and deal with the American Don who had played him for a fool.
Escorting Fixit to the airport, Wolverine makes a vital mistake as he mixes up the flight schedules and instead of ensuring that Fixit flies on an all nighter, he instead is put on a plane heading right into the sunrise - turning him into Bruce Banner.
