Synopsis for "Hunter's Moon!"
The issue opens with a distressed Karma concerned over the fate of Wolverine and Tyger at the hands of her uncle - General Coy. Breaking a glass in her hand, she's confronted by Bloodsport who asks what's wrong. Lying to him, Karma is even more terrified and distressed as Bloodsport tastes the pool of blood collected upon the table and states that now the two of them are bound till death or beyond.
Approaching the Golden Triangle (and more precisely General Coy's precious Opium farm), Wolverine and Archibald Corrigan are flying in an old DC3 Gooney Bird. When Corrigan asks Wolverine to take over for him, he goes into the back of the plane and pulls out a pistol. Considering the threats of Bloodsport and Roughouse against his life he struggles to shoot Wolverine, but before he can make up his mind the side of the plane gets sprayed by a hail of bullets. Being chased by an old P-51 Mustang, Wolverine attempts to lose their attacker with little success. Finally, Corrigan takes over the plane once more while Wolverine readies himself at the open door. He jumps out of the plane, slashing the Mustang's wing in half on the way down, and lands in a small lake below.
Meanwhile back in Lowtown, Madripoor Lindsay McCabe, Jessica Drew, and a barely alive Tyger come to a house with a plaque reading: "Landau, Luckman, and Lake" on the door. Knocking, the door finally opens to reveal a small old man named Chang. Telling him they're friends of "Patch" (Wolverine's alias in Madripoor) the three are taken inside and seen to. Chang says he can offer help but they won't be able to stay long - telling them that he'll find a place for them to lay low.
Back in the Golden Triangle two mercenary soldiers: Shotgun and Battle-axe scout the area which Wolverine was spotted falling to the ground. With no luck, the two radio back back to base with their report. Refusing to give up the search that easily, Hardcase (leader of the mercenary troops), orders the two to go to the crash site and determine what took out the Mustang. Before the two soldiers can reach their destination though, Wolverine attacks them, strips them, and hangs them from a tree (alive). Before leaving he activates the emergency beacon which sends a group of soldiers to their position.
In Madripoor, Chang starts to finalize a location for the three to hide out while Tyger slowly begins to recover. While Chang and Drew speak, McCabe comes into the room wearing a suit impervious to physical assault and other dangers. The suit was given to McCabe by Chang however Chang states that it was meant for someone else and that he can only give her the suit temporarily. Suddenly, Roughouse and Bloodsport come crashing through the wall.
Having cut down the embarrassed Shotgun and Battle-axe, the group of soldiers proceeds to drive back to base. Jumping from the trees, Wolverine is able to take over one of the Jeeps - now disguised as a fellow soldier. Pulling the Jeep into the base Wolverine causes an engine fire that stalls the vehicle at the main gate - blocking off the entrance and the exit. With the distraction working, Wolverine slips into the base - eventually being spotted by a soldier. After knocking out a series of men Wolverine finally sets fire to the supply of Opium that is the backbone of General Coy's illegal operations. Determined to save some of it rather than going after their attacker, the mercenaries blow through the wrecked Jeep at the gate and attempt to flee - only to stop as Wolverine stands in the middle of the road. When one of the mercenaries shoots Wolverine, Headcase realizes the trap. With the convoy stopped they're made an easy target. Above in the skies Corrigan flies over in his plane (now outfitted with a high powered machine gun) and begins destroying everything in sight.
With the convoy destroyed Corrigan picks up Wolverine and the two set out. As dawn approaches Shotgun, Battle-axe, and Headcase (having survived) stand over a fellow mercenary's decapitated head discussing Wolverine's incredible abilities.
The issue closes with a frame showing the "Landau..." sign amidst rubble and ruin and what looks to be Chang's face and glasses protruding from the destruction.
