Witnessing a hate speech being made by a coweled being known as the Hate Monger, the FF trie to intervene however they are blased by his hate-ray and turn against each other causing the group to split up. Later, Reed Richards meets up with his old war buddy Nick Fury who asks him to help out stop a war against pro-democracy forces in the country of San Gusto. Reed travels there alone, however Fury convinces the rest of the FF to go there as well.
Learning that the San Gusto coupe is the work of the Hate Monger, Nick Fury and Reed Richards manage to obtain a cure for his hate-ray and use it to cure the FF members so that they can work as a team again.
