Synopsis for "...If He Loseth His Soul!"

Captain America unable to find Falcon visits Sharon's apartment and discovers his absence with a note suggesting he stay away. Unable to leave the situation like that or if an enemy is behind her disappearance Captain America travels to a S.H.I.E.L.D. hideout seeking information. Once at the secret barbershop front of S.H.I.E.L.D., Captain America faces off against a few agents until they're stopped by Nick Fury. Who informs Steve that he hasn't seen Sharon but that his motorcycle is still in the compound if he wants it. Captain America takes his bike and heads off looking for clues elsewhere.

Steve eventually finds himself looking in on a squabble between Falcon and Rafe over the girl Leila. Rafe having enough of Falcon hanging around "his" girl has brought his gang of Silver Skulls to make sure Falcon gets the message, however Falcon ends up defeating the entire gang, Rafe included. Just as Leila and Sam seem to get close Captain America makes his presence known and after a brief discussion the two make amends which greatly displeases Leila who states her and Falcon are done. This causes Falcon to bite back and state that he's out to help all people not just his people and that if he is worth anything to her she might give him the chance to show her he's right. Leila surprised at his response but reluctantly agrees but she thinks to herself that she'll never stop trying to change him to help better fight for their cause.

Meanwhile miles away in Derby, Connecticut Sharon Carter is being held in Lost Souls Asylum and Rest Home. Confused and worried about why she's there she begins frantically looking for a means of escape. Soon she meets up with a Dr. Johann Wolfgang who informs Sharon that she was in a car accident and could be suffering from amnesia. Soon after she is met by her parents who inform Sharon that this is indeed the same residence of "she". Scenes shift and we see Doctor Faustus as he monologues to a woman draped in shadow about his plans for Captain America are almost in place.

Falcon and Captain America have found out that Sharon rented a car in Derby and have since traveled to the asylum looking for her. Upon getting closer to the building the two crime fighters are ambushed by Faustus' men who are able to subdue the two. As Sharon investigating the asylum sees Wolfgang and Faustus speaking to one another she too is subdued.

When the three awaken they are outside of the building. Sam is dressed in a Army Sergeant uniform and the three are approached by what appears to be Nazis. Faustus gazes on from a nearby window and informs the shadowy woman that with his men dressed in this manner he hopes to break Captain America mentally where he can not be conquered physically.
