Blaquesmith watched over the young Nathan Dayspring, both as a guide and charged with the grim task of eliminating him if he became unstable. He was personally instructed by the Mother Askani. He was also able to give Prosh his original body after it had been contained in an orb Cable carried with him.
Blaquesmith journeyed to the present some time ago. He set up in an abandoned ship in a harbor in Baltimore, signaling Cable when he felt it was safe enough to reveal himself.
Blaquesmith wanted Cable to destroy X-Man, saying he was too dangerous, but Cable disagreed and helped the young man instead.
Onslaught apparently sensed Blaquesmith as a threat and conducted a raid, then later sent Post to destroy the ship. Blaquesmith managed to escape.
In preparation for his destined confrontation with Apocalypse, Blaquesmith had Cable destroy an Askani cult and gain a psimitar weapon.Powers and Abilities

Blaquesmith possesses telepathy. He also seems to be able to time travel and slow down the flow of time, perhaps psionically.Abilities
Blaquesmith is an accomplished inventor and seems to intuitively understands machines. He was trained by the Askani in combat.
