History

Reed, Sue, Johnny and Ben went into space in an experimental spacecraft of Reed's as the comet passed by Earth. They were hit by cosmic rays from it due to a necessary diamond being exchanged for an imitation by the Jeweler. Upon crash-landing on Earth, the four discovered that the cosmic rays gave them special powers.
