History

Avandalia was an enigmatic[1] demon with an uncertain relationship to D'Spayre,[2][1] who claimed she belonged to him.[3] She was possibly her spawn.[4]

After D'Spayre's defeat against Phoenix (Rachel Summers), he joined with Avandalia, and sought out Cloak (Tyrone Johnson) and Dagger (Tandy Bowen) to replenish his power levels.[1]

She appeared upon Cloak after he awoke powerless, mysteriously transported from the Neo-Nazi Schamballah fortress he was infiltrating. She introduced herself, asked him to say her name, then his own, and crumbled into pieces as soon as Tyrone complied, completely disappearing in an instant,[5] and now owning a claim over Cloak.

Along with D'Spayre,[3] she then appeared at Dagger's stepfather's apartment, where she welcomed Detective O'Reilly and Detective Nales (who were looking to learn about Cloak and Dagger), made them say her name and join them to partake with a plate of screaming souls,[6] holding the detectives and Tandy's stepfather to wait for Cloak and Dagger, welcoming them with a toast as they finally joined them.[7] Avandalia then used her power over Cloak to restrain Dagger. While Cloak and Dagger battled D'Spayre in another realm, O'Reilly, turned into Mayhem, clawed Avandalia, causing her to dissolved into dust.

Upon returning to the apartment, D'Spayre discovered Avandalia's demise, grieved for her, and was strengthen by his own pain (but was eventually defeated).[3]
