Arnim Zola was a brilliant Swiss scientist who worked with the Red Skull to mastermind HYDRA's efforts during the Second World War. At some point, Zola lost his body due to the actions of Captain America, forcing him to use machines as vessels.

Contest of Champions

Making way to the Contest of Champions through unknown means, Zola spent years helping the Red Skull devise a plan to recover his Cosmic Cube from the Asgardians so he could reactivate a machine capable of creating an army of Adaptoids to conquer the Battlerealm.

Enter the Cabal

Taking advantage of the chaotic state the Battlerealm was left in after the battle against Thanos, Zola and the Red Skull put their plan into motion with the help of the Cabal, a group composed of the Hydra Empire's Minister of Punishment Jake Gallows, the Asgardian God of Mischief Loki, the notoriously maniacal and scheming Norman Osborn, and the Kingpin of Crime Wilson Fisk.

After Loki recovered the Cosmic Cube from Odin's Vault, the Avengers ended up stepping into a war with the Cabal while investigating their activities, prompting Zola to use an Adaptoid as vessel to confront them. He failed to stop them, but thought they wouldn't manage to defeat the Red Skull, which, much to his chagrin, they did.

Powers

Seemingly those the Adaptoids possess.

Abilities

Seemingly those of his Earth-199999 counterpart.

Weaknesses

The Contest labels Zola's Adaptoid vessel as a Tech Champion, therefore weakening him against Cosmic Champions.
