Arcturus Rann[src]

History

The early life of Arcturus Rann is similar to that of his Earth-616 counterpart.

Arcturus Rann was the descendant of Wayfinder, a human prince from the far future, whose travels led him back to Earth's ancient past, and caused the creation of the Microverse. Wayfinder found a sword containing the Enigma Force, the remnants of Galactus' consciousness and power.[1]

After Wayfinder's death, the Enigma Force eventually bonded itself to Arcturus Rann. Rann became an explorer, travelling through subatomica for a thousand years in a state of waking suspended animation. Each life lived by Arcturus in this state added to the Enigma Force and multiplied its power exponentially.[1]

While Rann slept, his world changed drastically. When he awoke, he found himself branded an ememy and was forced on the run, together with his future wife Marionette. As the power of the Enigma Force grew, Rann soon became the most powerful being in the Microverse, and succeeded in overthrowing its despotic ruler. Rann and Marionette had a son, Ant Man and enjoyed a time of peace, before the Psycho-Man returned to the Microverse. Using his Emotocaster, he drove the denizens of the Microverse mad, causing Marionette to kill her husband.[1]

Upon his death, Rann's soul departed for the Realm of the Dead. Since he had died while hosting the Enigma Force, the force travelled with him. Unlike the other denizens of the Realm, who believed they were still alive, the Enigma Force allowed Rann to know the truth of his fate. Encountering the Kree hero Mar-Vell, another soul who knew he was dead, Rann decided to give him the Enigma Force. Now empowered, Mar-Vell began plotting to destroy Death with Rann at his side.[2] [1]

While Rann's involvement in the battles leading up to Death's defeat were limited due to his stature, he gave Mar-Vell valuable advice and used his mental link with his wife, who had survived the Microverse's destruction at the hands of the Man-Thing, to aid Mar-Vell in the realm of the living.[1]

Following Death's death and the construction of Paradise, Arcturus' whereabouts are unknown.
