Apaco was considered by most of the world to be a "lost" Mayan city. One explorer managed to find its location but was ill during his journey. When he returned to tell others of his discovery, he died without giving exact details of the location. Archaeologist Doctr Webber launched an expedition into the Yucatan. En route to the site they believed to be that of Apaco, they were rescued from a giant snake by Namora. They parted ways but Namora realized the expedition was being followed. The team managed to find Apaco and that it was inhabited. Descendants of the Mayans who worshipped Kukulkan maintained the city. However, they were unaware that a gangster had also found the city and was robbing it of precious jewels. Namora stopped the gangster and helped broker a peace between the city's people and the expedition.[1]
