History

Amanda and Kurt were performing in a circus when suddenly, Amanda would've fell to her death were if not for the hasty blue mutant named Nightcrawler. Kurt suffered a few broken ribs, but felt his heartache when seeing the relationship between Amanda and the trapeze artist Werner.

When Kurt went to a church, Amanda followed him and said that she felt more for him than just a foster brother. The two kissed and planned on leaving the circus for a new life. Unknown to him, a lot of it was a hallucination, most likely by Jason Stryker. His father Major William Stryker, Jr, had chose him to set up a fake attack on the President and blame it on the mutant community. While in reality, Amanda was caught being intimate with Werner back at the circus. To which she got caught by her mother, as she and Werner were in her mother's trailer.

Neither mother nor daughter realized Kurt had been kidnapped. Their circus troupe waited as long as they could but reluctantly moved on without Kurt. All the while, Kurt was under capture with Lady Deathstrike. All he could do was pray and hope. Eventually an anti-mutant mercenary who particularly hated Kurt told Kurt the obvious truth: That those romantic moments he had with Amanda were nothing more than an illusion. He even went so far as to brag that she had forgotten him and was very much involved with Werner. Something that broke Kurt's heart and apparently his spirit.

Amanda worried after Nightcrawler was gone, so she went to the church and prayed for God to watch over Kurt, wherever his travels may take him.[1]
