[3] Alchemax is an American multinational chemical corporation headquartered at Alchemax Tower, New York. Alchemax provides chemical, plastic, and agricultural products and services to consumer markets that include food, transportation, health and medicine, personal care. The President and CEO of Alchemax is industrialist Liz Allan.

History

Origin[]

The company was created after Liz Allan's company "Allan Chemical" was merged with stocks inherited by her son Normie from Oscorp and the last remaining properties of Horizon Lab after its destruction, establishing it under the new name of "Alchemax".[4]

It was later revealed that Norman Osborn, under the guise of "Mason Banks," created the corporation in order to leave a strong empire for his grandson and establish an empire for the Osborn legacy. Following his defeat, Osborn was able to escape custody due to Liz "accidentally" activating a Spider-Sense jammer, prompting Spider-Man to keep tabs on them.[3]

Also, Spider-Man (Michael O'Mara), Ty Stone's future grandson from a timeline where Alchemax controlled society, started working undercover in the nascent Alchemax.[5]

Alchemax Genetics[]

A division of Alchemax under the leadership of Robert Chandler called Alchemax Genetics created ten clones of Laura Kinney, though they were considered failures as they did not inherit her healing factor or claws. Four of the girls later escaped with the help of Kimura, and began targeting Alchemax and its employees using equipment she provided. Kimura wanted revenge against Alchemax Genetics for stealing technology she considered her property, while the girls sought vengeance for the treatment they endured at their creators' hands. Chandler requested Wolverine's assistance in stopping the escapees, but when confronted, three of the girls — Gabby, Bellonna, and Zelda — claimed that they had nothing to do with the destruction of the installation where they were being kept and were merely trying to escape. However before they could reveal anything further, Laura and her "sisters" were attacked by Captain Mooney, Alchemax Genetics' head of security, who attempted to kill the girls alongside Taskmaster.

How much Alchemax's corporate headquarters knew about Chandler's activities is unknown. However Chandler expressed significant concern to Mooney about what might happen once his superiors learned the truth about their project after repeated, and very public, failures to recapture the clones.

Alchemax Genetics was ultimately destroyed by Wolverine and The Sisters, with Laura tipping off Maria Hill and S.H.I.E.L.D. of their activities and location.[6]

Symbiote Experiments[]

Over the course of several months, Eddie Brock unofficially allied with Alchemax to find a cure for the Venom symbiote's degrading physical and mental condition; cultivating a friendship with xenobiologist Doctor Steven, who developed a Anti-Venom Serum to cure the symbiote and helped it spawn its seventh offspring, Sleeper.[7] Liz also blackmailed Flash Thompson, aka Agent Anti-Venom, into working as private security for Alchemax.[8] During the Poison Hive invasion, Alchemax sheltered the heroes who'd been bonded to symbiotes; and after the war ended helped remove the symbiotes and began studying the remains of the Poisons.[9] Bonding to the Carnage symbiote, Norman Osborn attempted to threaten Liz into turning Alchemax over to him, though she refused and later obtained a sample of the Carnage symbiote she kept to study.[10] Although Venom's working relationship with Alchemax was terminated after the Kree warrior Tel-Kar stole the Venom symbiote and nearly killed Liz,[11] Liz and Harry allowed Eddie, his son Dylan, and Sleeper to stay at their house for a few weeks as a favor to Peter Parker.[12]

Warned by Eddie that the dark god Knull -- creator of the symbiotes -- was coming to invade Earth, Alchemax recreated the Anti-Venom Serum using samples of Flash's Anti-Venom symbiote and combined them with samples of the Grendel symbiote appropriated from Weapon V to create prototype Anti-Venom battlesuits.[13] In the wake of Knull's invasion, Alchemax--secretly manipulated by the Absent Throne--allied with demagogical Senator Peter Krane and established a paramilitary unit called the Guardsmen to kill or capture any symbiotes they came across;[14][15][16] feuding with the revitalized Life Foundation for jurisdiction.[17][18]

Capturing Dylan and Sleeper, Liz Allan authorized tortuous experiments on the boy who'd once been like a son to her in order to study his unique human/symbiote hybrid physiology; though he was rescued by the Venom symbiote and rampaged through the lab before escaping.[19]

When Andi Benton was captured by Guardsmen after having killed the Carnage-corrupted Scream symbiote,[20] she was slated to be turned over as a specimen to Doctor Leonida. Appropriating her and the Scream symbiote's remains, Dr. Steven attempted to resurrect it; accidentally creating a new symbiote called Silence by amalgamating Scream's remains with Anti-Venom serum.[16][21] Continuing this line of research, Alchemax began cultivating "strains" of the various symbiotes it had captured and experimenting with hybridizing them to create new gestalt symbiotes, leading to the creation of the symbiotes dubbed Rascal and Misery.[22][23]
