History

Afterlife is a sanctuary for the Inhumans. All of the residents are of Inhuman ancestry, although most of them have no powers as they haven't gone through the mist yet.[1]

The location was later found out by S.H.I.E.L.D. by a tracker that was installed on Gordon. Commander Robert Gonzales was sent to reason with Afterlife's leader Jiaying. Gonzales was eventually betrayed by Jiaying, who killed him with Terrigen Mist. After that she shot herself with a handgun and declared war on S.H.I.E.L.D., gaining the trust of all of her fellow Inhumans and even tricking her daughter, Daisy, into believing that she was indeed shot.[2][3] Jiaying's war with S.H.I.E.L.D. ultimately failed, resulting in the death of both herself and Gordon.[4]

Although the exact status of Afterlife after Jiaying's death is currently unknown, many of the Inhumans who called the sanctuary home left to live among humans.[5]

Notes

  • The exact location of Afterlife is unknown but due to its architecture Lincoln Campbell thinks it's in China.[1]
