Yo Yo Rodreguez was the daughter of The Griffin. She was recruited by Daisy Johnson to join Nick Fury's secret team to fight the Skrull invasion.
In one of the Secret Warriors' first missions, Slingshot's arms were cut off at the elbow by the Gorgon. She had a lengthy recovery afterwards, and was mostly watched over by Stonewall. During that time they grew much closer as friends. When she was fully recovered, she was fitted with bionic arms and eagerly jumped back into action.
