Synopsis for "Part 2 of 3: Bad to the Bone"

As the line between past and present fades, Logan awakes in a fit of rage to find himself back in Xavier's office. The telepath helps him regain composure before the pair decide to delve further into the brain of the man nicknamed Wolverine.

As the duo reenter Wolverine's psyche by way of the astral plane, they enter upon a conversation between the three scientists in charge of Weapon X at this point in history. While Professor Thorton continues with his obsession to reach perfection with his experiments, Dr. Cornelius and Dr. Hines discuss the inhuman conditions they are putting this mysterious specimen through. Suddenly, the Logan of the past breaks free of his drug induced haze with an attempt to fight his way out of the lab. After breaking past the initial wall of officers, the figmentation of Wolverine engages the real thing, throwing the latter into the tank the former had just escaped.

Luckily, the memory begins to correct itself, with the previous incarnation of Logan succumbing to the second wave of security officers. Charles manages to assist the current Logan in recovering from the shock of facing his past self, and in this moment of rest, the duo witnesses the kindness Dr. Hines strived to provide to Logan in those dark times. They follow the young doctor through a corridor that shifts to bring our heroes of this tale into a different memory.

'Weapon X' stands in a wintery, forest landscape as he is approached on all sides by an armed security team. The experiment rages out against his opponents, striking them all down without breaking a sweat. All of a sudden, Wolverine finds himself tethered to this fragment of the past, and while the memory holds a guard in a death grip, Logan grabs the concerned Charles in a deadly chokehold. Both versions of our hero manage to compose themselves and choose mercy, a negative choice in the eyes of the Weapon Plus scientist but a positive choice for the explorers of this past. The two men rally and push further into Logan's subconscious.
