HistoryEdit

Mr. Avery was a lawyer who practiced in the 1940s. An expert in radio equipment, Avery developed the double identity of the Voice of Doom and began using his radio equipment to hijack the radios of his victims and warn them of the crimes he was about to commit. His "predictions" coming true, the Voice made headlines while he victimized the people of his town.

After stealing the Wentworth's jewels, the Voice then began targeting the Barnes family. The brother of Allen Barnes had recently passed away and willed his fortune to the Barnes family. As Avery was to read the will to the family, he plotted to kill them all so that he could claim the fortune instead. After warning the family via radio, Avery then broke into their home as the Voice and strangled Allen to death. Allen's screams were overheard by Sgt. Jeff Dix who rushed to the home and fought off the Voice before he could kill Allen's wife and daughter.

The Voice fled back to his cabin where he used his radio equipment to issue a warning to Dix to butt out of his affairs. However, Dix called in a favor from a friend who worked at the signal corps and was able to track the Voice's signal back to his hideout. There, Dix attempted to stop the Voice scratching his face in the scuffle. The Voice managed to defeat Dix by activating a radio device that caused Dix to choke until he passed out. Deciding to deal with the soldier later, the Voice then rushed off to deal with the surviving members of the Barnes family.

Removing his disguise, Avery arrived at the Barnes home to read the will, fully expecting to murder Mrs. Barnes and his daughter while their guards were down. However, Dix soon arrived and noticing the scratch on Avery's face exposing him as the Voice of Doom. Dix easily subdued Avery, and realizing the scope of his scheme carried him off to the authorities.

While Dix believed that Avery was destined for the electric chair, his ultimate fate is unrecorded.

Avery had various radio devices. One allowed him to interrupt radio broadcasts of specific radios.

Weapons

As the Voice, Avery wielded a knife, and also used a radio device that could cause a person to choke by hearing the sound. Avery was apparently immune to its effects.
