Victor Creed (Earth-295)
He was depowered.
Contents |
HistoryEdit
When Legion, the mentally unbalanced mutant son of Professor Charles Xavier and Gabrielle Haller, traveled back in time in an attempt to kill Magneto, he accidentally killed Xavier instead, creating a splinter universe known as the Age of Apocalypse. In that reality, mutants became the dominant species of the planet. Apocalypse rose to power enslaved humanity.
Horseman of Apocalypse
On Earth-295, Victor Creed would be one of the first mutants recruited by Apocalypse when he began his take-over of North America. A member of the Horsemen of Apocalypse, Sabertooth was dispatched with the other Horsemen to attack Cape Citadel. After the Horsemen secured the facility, Sabertooth would be shocked when he learned that his master intended to launch the nuclear warheads. His fellow Horsemen would subdue Sabretooth, until the X-Men on their inaugural mission would come to stop them. Sabretooth would be released in order to fight in the battle, but he would be defeated in combat against Weapon X. Upon the defeat of the Horsemen, Apocalypse would abandon Sabretooth, however he would be invited back into his ranks at a later date[1].
As a member of Apocalypse's forces, Sabretooth would clash with Doc Neutron alongside Havok[2]. However, Sabretooth soon began to dislike killing innocent people in Apocalypse's cullings of America. In California, Sabretooth would turn against Holocaust, and be easily defeated in battle. Sabretooth would be placed in a prison for those who would betray Apocalypse. There he would be locked in a cell with Wild Child. The two feral mutants would battle for three full days until Sabretooth would exert his dominance. With Wild Child loyal to him, the two would break out of their cell and fight their way out of the prison[3].
X-Men
Sabretooth would join with the mutant rebels the X-Men following his escape. One of his earliest missions he and Weapon X would locate and rescue young Clarice Ferguson. Clarice would be raised like a daughter by Sabretooth and she would eventually become an active X-Man taking on the name Blink[4].
When it was learned that Apocalypse was recovering on the Blue Area of the Moon, Sabretooth would attempt to convince Clarice to use her teleportation powers to take them there. Succeeding, Sabretooth and the X-Men would clash with the Inhuman Royal Family and be captured by their leader Maximus. He and his fellow X-Men would be saved by Blink who managed to avoid capture they would escape to Earth, killing Maximus in the process[5]. In other missions, Sabretooth would clash with the evil Wolverine[6] and battled the Sentinels in Wakanda[3]. During a period when Blink went missing[7], Sabretooth would be relieved to find her alive and well after her adventure in the Negative Zone had her teleported back to Earth[8].
Sabretooth would remain a mainstay with the X-Men, always with Wild Child at his side. As Apocalypse would continue to overrun North America. Eventually, world tensions would lead to a cold war between Apocalypse and the Human High Council, which could potentially end in complete nuclear holocaust. The Kelly Pact would be signed, wherein Apocalypse would promise to no longer carry out his grisly experiments against humans, however he would have no intention of doing so. Sabretooth would accompany his fellow X-Men in travelling to Seattle to try and stop Apocalypse's culling there. After defeating an army of Infinites and their leader Unus, Sabretooth and the X-Men would find the time displaced Bishop. They would soon learn that Bishop came from another reality that was fractured by Legion killing Xavier in the past. Convinced that there was some truth behind Bishop's claims, Magneto would dispatch squads of X-Men to search for the items and people needed to restore his reality as well as squads to foil Apocalypse's various schemes[9].
Sabretooth would not be so quick to believe Bishop's story but would go with Magneto's plans. When the group learned that Holocaust was continuing cullings in Chicago, Sabretooth and Wild Child would accompany a squad of X-Men led by Rogue to stop it[10]. In Chicago, Sabretooth would convince Blink to teleport him closer to Holocaust's location, despite Rogue's orders to do the contrary. Finding Holocaust, he would have the villain impart the location of his factory, Sabretooth would send Wild Child to tell the others. In battling Holocaust, Sabretooth would shatter his bio-armor but Holocaust would ultimately defeat Sabretooth in battle, seriously injuring him[11]. Sabretooth would be tortured and strung up in Holocaust's fortress, left for dead. His mangled body would be found by Blink[4]. Blink would believe Sabretooth to be dead and attack Holocaust alone, until the other X-Men would arrive and force him to retreat. In the battle's aftermath, Sabretooth would be found alive by Iceman[12]. Returning to the Xavier estate, Sabretooth would use his tracking powers to try and find Rogue's son Charles whom they found was captured by minions of Apocalypse. While Rogue would mobilize a strike force to storm Apocalypse's forces, Sabretooth and Wild Child would remain behind[13].
Weapon X
Sabretooth would become "unhinged in time", by the Timebreakers, insectoid beings that were trying to repair damage done to the multiverse. Sabretooth would join Weapon X, reality jumpers comprised of Weapon X program inductees from alternate realities. Their mandate would be to go to realities and complete missions that were deemed too brutal to their sister group the Exiles. Sabretooth would be named leader and given a Tallus device that would inform them of their missions. Sabretooth would be joined with Wolverine of Earth-172, Deadpool of Earth-5012, Kane of Earth-3031, Mesmero of Earth-653, and Maverick of Earth-1287. On their first few missions, Maverick, Mesmero, and Wolverine would be killed, and Weapon X would repopulate their ranks by seeking out new members or having new ones added by the Timebreakers[14].
On their first recorded mission, Sabretooth, Kane and Deadpool would be sent to Earth-901237 to collect the Hulk[15]. Upon seeing Blink with the Exiles, Sabretooth would be shocked to find her alive. The Exiles would be on this world to insure that the Hulk did not slay Alpha Flight. When the Exiles completed their mission, Weapon X would be teleported away before they could meet their counterparts, confusing Sabretooth as to why they were allowed to move on when they failed their mission[16].
After a number of missions and an expansion of their ranks, Sabretooth and Weapon X would end up on Earth-2600. There they would be allowed to meet the Exiles, reuniting Sabretooth with Blink. They would learn both teams mission would be to break David Richards the son of Rachel Summers and Franklin Richards in a world where the Sentinels[17]. Upon freeing David, Weapon X would be informed that their mission would be to slay David, as he was destined to grow up to be a tyrant that would enslave the entire world. Sabretooth, unwilling to kill a child would help the Exiles try and keep David safe from both Weapon X and the Sentinels that patrolled this world. Ultimately, Sabretooth would come up with a solution to the problem: He would volunteer to stay behind and raise young David, hoping that he could steer the boy on the path of good and change history. With Sabretooth's sacrifice both the Exiles and Weapon X would be sent off to their next missions. Before the Exiles were transported away, Sabretooth would promise Blink that they would meet each other again in the future[18].
After a mission with the Exiles would have Blink "sent home"[19], Blink instead would find herself transported to Earth-2600 as at the time, her native reality of Earth-295 was not in existence. There she would find that a number of years have passed and joined Sabretooth and the adult David Richards complete their final assault on the Sentinel overlords on that world. After the victory, David would go mad, and manipulate Blink and use her powers to slay the humans behind the Sentinels. Sabretooth would be forced to kill David. Blink would then be reunited with the Exiles shortly thereafter[20].
Exiles
Over time, the evil Hyperion of Earth-4023 (A member of the now disbanded Weapon X that took over the team after Sabretooth left) would usurp control of the Timebroker's facility within the Panoptrichron and would be exacting revenge against the Exiles by putting them on increasingly erratic missions.
The Exiles would be transported to Earth-2600, where they would save Sabretooth, whom was being hunted down by the young mutant rebels that once fought along side of him who sought to punish him from killing David Richards. Blink would be told that her mission was to kill her own teammate Mimic. When Blink would refuse to tell her teammates of their mission, Hyperion (through the Time Broker proxy) would give Sabretooth the Tallus. However, Sabretooth would refuse to kill the woman his "pup" loved either, forcing the "Time Broker" to punish them[20].
Sabretooth along with the other Exiles would be transported to the restored Earth-295 and forced to have their old nemesis Holocaust put on their team. Finding civilization had been restored on their reality, the Exiles would battle Holocaust, forcing him to flee. In attempting to get the aid of Magneto, they would find him unavailable[21]. Holocaust would return and point out to the group that the Tallus and the M'Kraan Crystal were linked and they would track down one of the Dark Beast's lairs to find information on the Crystal, clashing with the X-Men. Going to the location of the Crystal, Sabretooth and the Exiles would use it to transport themselves to the Panoptichron[22].
There, Sabretooth and the others would learn of Hyperion's involvement, who would slay Holocaust before their eyes[23]. They would battle Hyperion, learning of his plot and sustaining casualties[24][25]. But they would ultimately defeat Hyperion when their teammate Beak would recruit the Hyperions of Earth-712 and Earth-5764[26].
Becoming a member of the Exiles, Sabretooth would maintain the Tallus even though Blink would continue leading the team. They would travel to Earth-3752 to aid The Science Squad stop Krakoa and Fin Fang Foom from destroying Japan[27][28][14].
World Tour
When the Exiles would attempt to bring their teammate Beak back to his native reality of Earth-616 it would be during a period it was briefly replaced with Earth-58163. Investigating, Sabretooth and the others would learn that this world was ruled by Magneto. In trying to find Beak's girlfriend Angel Salvadore they would become embroiled in a battle against Proteus a mutant serial killer. The Exiles would save Angel, but Mimic would be possessed by Proteus who would learn how to transverse reality and decide to travel through the omniverse to try and find the ideal body to inhabit that won't burn out[29][30][31]
Sabretooth and the Exiles would then go after Proteus, feeling duty bound to stop him. First they would clash with him on Earth-15731, where they would attempt to stop Proteus from possessing the body of Ken Connell owner of the Star Brand. They would succeed, but Proteus would burn out the body of Mimic, and escape in the body of Justice before escaping to another reality[32][33][34].
On Earth-6375, a world in the year 2099, Sabretooth and the others would chase after Proteus along side of that realities Spider-Man. They would fail to stop Proteus from taking possession of the Hulk before leaving this reality as well[35][36]. When arriving on Earth-712, Sabretooth and the other Exiles would be briefly detained by the Squadron Supreme who would be tricked by Proteus unto believing that the Exiles were evil. The Exiles would clear their names and help the Squadron defeat the Global Directorate, before continuing on with Power Princess in their ranks[37][38].
On Earth-9200, Sabretooth and the Exiles would get the aid of Maestro to try and stop Proteus, whom targeted the Maestro as his next host body. During the course of the battle, Proteus would break free and possess Morph, finding it the ideal body that would never burn out[39][40]. When Proteus would attempt to return to his own reality, the Exiles would force him to instead travel to Earth-616's Counter-Earth. There Sabretooth and the Exiles would team with the Young Allies in preventing Protues, Order and Kaos from destroying that universe. In the end, the Exiles would defeat Proteus by tricking him into putting on a miniaturized B-Mod machine to submerge every conciousness in his mind except for that of Morph. Although they neutralized the threat, they would have to keep "Morph" under wraps to keep his Proteus personality submerged[41][42].
Back in the Saddle
Returning to the Panoptichron, Sabertooth and the others would begin returning the fallen members of both the Exiles and Weapon X to their native realities. Sabretooth would have a hard time trying to get his former teammate Iron Man of Earth-2020 to return to his native reality. After a brief clash, Sabretooth and the others would be able to stop him and send him home without his armor. Victor would then convince Clarice to return Mimic's corpse to his home reality. The Exiles would also decide to continue the Timebreaker's mission on their own terms at the protest of their former masters[43].
Victor would return to Earth-295 to try and locate his former charge Wild Child. Meeting with Magneto and Rogue at the Department of Mutant Affairs, he would learn that Wild Child had disappeared shortly after he was displaced in time. Victor would be called back to duty with the Exiles to go to teammate Heather Hudson's native reality of Earth-3460 to assist that realities Alpha Flight to stop the Soviet Super-Soldiers from accidentally releasing Chernobog from the Dark Force Dimension. This would be a ploy from the Time Breakers to "fire" the Exiles, stranding them in that reality after their mission was complete[44].
While Sabretooth and the others were stranded on Earth-3470, the Time Breakers attempted to save Earth-127 from Brother Mutant by dispatching team after team of Exiles comprised entirely of Wolverine's from other realities[45]. Each incarnation of the team would be enslaved by Brother Mutant and eventually, the Time Breakeres would be forced to bring Sabretooth and the others back to help stop Brother Mutant. After Brother Mutant's defeat, the Exiles would return to their regular missions, but under full control of the Panoptichron[46].
Their next mission would bring them to Earth-552 a world where the universe was protected by a benevolent Galactus and terrorized by his former herald Silver Surfer[47]. The Exiles would be charged with defending Galactus who was injured in battle. Sabretooth would convince Galactus to endow him with the Power Cosmic to help destroy the Surfer. After their victory, Sabretooth would refuse an offer to join Galactus and return the power he borrowed, opting to remain with the Exiles[48]. Sabretooth would continue onto another series of missions. To Earth-27536 to save J. Jonah Jameson from the Sinister Six, battling the Serpent Society of Earth-27537, and the Hellfire Club of Earth-27538. In each of these missions, Proteus's personality would threaten to rise to the surface, prompting Sabretooth and the Exiles to put him through regular B-Mod treatments to keep his Proteus side submerged[49]. Sabretooth and the others would next be tricked into going to Earth-33629 where they would be pitted against another team of Exiles gathered by the Grandmaster as part of a contest with his Earth-1815 counterpart. Both teams would realize the deception and defeat both Grandmasters[50].
On their next mission, the Exiles found themselves on Earth-1720 where Madame Hydra decimated the entire world. Sabretooth would be the only member to escape while the other members of the group would be captured and brainwashed by Hydra. When Heather would bring in Psylock of Earth-616 brought onto the team, Sabretooth would go to meet her. Not realizing this Sabretooth was not evil like his Earth-616 counterpart, she would battle him until she was stopped by Morph[51]. Returning to Earth-1720 with Morph and Psylock, Sabretooth would have to race against time to try and complete their mission (slaying that realities Reed Richards and save their friends as that reality would be wiped out if they were not successful. They would be held back due to an attack by the Hydra agent Slaymaster. The reality would be saved from destruction by Reed Richards, and Madam Hydra would be disposed of. [52][53][54][55].
Dark Angel Saga
Creed returned to his home reality and began fighting against the forces of Weapon Omega to save humankind. When X-Force came to their reality seeking the Life Seed, he resolved to help them. He eventually crossed over to X-Force's Earth to help stop Archangel from razing their world. He then returned to the Age of Apocalypse.
A New Apocalypse
An attempt by the joint forces of the X-Terminated, Human Resistance and X-Men lead to Creed losing his powers. After escaping, Creed was placed under arrest for his crimes against humanity during his time as a Hound for Apocalypse. He was forced to deal with the loss of his powers and his imprisonment while Jean Grey began to receive combat training among the human resistance.
Powers and AbilitiesEdit
Powers
Sabretooth possesses a variety of superhuman attributes similar to those possessed by his Earth-616 counterpart. However, he hasn't undergone the various augmentation procedures that his counterpart has. As a result, some of his powers aren't as developed.
An attempt by the joint forces of the X-Terminated, Human Resistance and X-Men lead to Creed losing his powers.
Regenerative Healing Factor: Like his mainstream counterpart, Sabretooth's primary mutant power is an accelerated healing ability that allows him to regenerate damaged or destroyed bodily tissue with far greater speed and efficiency than an ordinary human. Sabretooth is capable of fully healing from injuries that result in massive tissue damage and blood loss such as multiple gunshot wounds, slashes, punctures, and severe burns within a matter of minutes. Injuries as severe as multiple broken bones can heal completely within a day. He is not, however, capable of regenerating severed limbs or missing organs.
- Retarded Aging: In addition, Sabretooth's healing factor provides him with an extended lifespan by slowing the effects of the aging process. Despite being of an, unknown, advanced age, Sabretooth retains the appearance and vitality of a man in his physical prime.
- Disease Resistance: Sabretooth's highly efficient immune system has rendered him immune against all known Earthly diseases and infections.
- Toxin Resistance: Sabretooth is also immune to the effects of most drugs and is is impossible for him to become intoxicated by consuming alcohol. He can be affected by certain drugs, such as powerful tranquilizers, but only in massive doses.
- Superhumanly Acute Senses: Sabretooth possesses heightened physical senses that are comparable to those of certain animals. He is able to see much farther than an ordinary human, and with much greater clarity. He retains this same level of clarity, even in near-total darkness. His hearing is similarly enhanced, allowing him to hear sounds that an ordinary human can't and at great distances. He is also capable of healing sounds ordinary humans can hear, but at much greater distances. Sabretooth's sense of smell is advanced to the point where he can track a target by scent, much in the same way as a wolf. He is able to recognize an individual, or even an inanimate or mechanical object, by its unique scent. He is able to track a target's scent with an impressive degree of success, even if the scent has been eroded over time by natural factors.
- Superhuman Strength: Because of his healing factor, Sabretooth is able to push his muscles to a much greater extent than ordinary human without sustaining injury, granting him some degree of superhuman strength. He is capable of lifting about 3 tons.
- Superhuman Stamina: Sabretooth's musculature generates considerably less fatigue toxins during physical activity than the musculature of an ordinary human. He can physically exert himself at peak capacity for about 48 hours before fatigue begins to impair him.[56]
- Superhuman Agility: Sabretooth's agility, balance, and bodily coordination are enhanced to levels that are beyond the natural physical limits of even the finest human athlete.
- Superhuman Reflexes: Sabretooth's reaction time is similarly enhanced, granting him reflexes superior to even the finest human athlete.
- Weather Insulated Adaptation: Sabretooth is able to withstand incredibly cold temperatures without sustaining bodily damage to the extent that he can sleep nude in sub-arctic conditions with no apparent injury.
Claws and Teeth: Sabretooth possesses retractable claws at the tip of each of his fingers and toes. The claws are razor sharp and are capable of cutting most conventional materials including flesh, bone, wood, stone, and some types of metals. He also possesses elongated canines that he occasionally uses in close quarters combat.
