In the Asgardian afterlife, heroes and the honored dead go to Valhalla. Valhalla which translates as "hall of the slain" is a majestic, enormous hall located in Asgard, ruled over by Odin. Chosen by Odin, those warriors that fall in battle travel to Valhalla upon death, led by Valkyries

In Valhalla, is home to various legendary heroes and kings, as they prepare to aid Odin during the events of Ragnarök.

Before the hall stands the golden tree Glasir, and the hall's ceiling is thatched with golden shields. Various creatures live around the lands of Valhalla, such as the stag and the goat. The is the greatest reward bestowed on a warrior in Norse mythology

On this world, Thor died and became a captive of Valhalla [1]. He made a bargain with Valhalla's ruler, Hela, that he would be released from Valhalla if the Thunder god would father a child with her. Thor somewhat reluctantly performed this task. After the fact, Thor demanded to be released, but Hela informed him that another must die to take his place. This occurred when Thor's romantic interest Barbara Norriss fell in battle. Thor returned to Earth and Barbara Norriss transformed into Valhalla's Valkyrie [2].

Later, apparently because Thor is the only survivor of Asgard, he has become Valhalla, being able to communicate with the fallen Asgardians such as Odin, Loki and others.
