History

Major Valentin Shatalov was the original Crimson Dynamo. Ever since the end of the Cold War, Valentin has been based in Siberia for a long time and has made a living there in which his government contact wasn't even sure if he was alive. Since then, Shatalov exhibits a somewhat less-than-sane personality. Shatalov was later contacted by his handlers in searching for stolen Crimson Dynamo armors and other super-soldier components, deliberate done by Sorba Rutskaya and Ivan Kragoff.[1] Valentin later came into a misunderstanding battle with the Fantastic Four, who were looking for Susan Storm. Eventually, Valentin explained to them of his mission and of Susan Storm being kidnapped by Kragoff and Sorba's forces. He joined in their efforts in rescuing Susan at Kragoff's facility and encountered Rutskaya's super-soldiers who are equipped with Dynamo armors.[2] After confronting a mutated Rutskaya and the facility destroyed in a nuclear explosion, with the Invisible Woman rescued Valentin bid farewell to the Fantastic Four.[citation needed]

  • Superhuman Strength: The armor enhances Valentin's strength to the point where he can hurl trees and hurt the Thing with his blows.[2]
  • Superhuman Durability: The armor enhances Valentin's durability to incredible levels and makes him able to survive the Thing's blows without much damage.[2]
  • Flight: Thanks to rockets in the boots the armor allows Valentin to fly.[2]
  • Energy Projection: The armor allows Valentin to discharge powerful energy blasts from his hands.[2]

Weapons

Valentin's power armor is armed with twenty-two separate weapon systems ('twenty-three' counting Johnny Storm's annoyance with Valentin's utilization of his suit for singing). He is also accompanied by battle drones.
