Thank you for getting me on the forums
PeteParker has been a big help to me, and thank you for looking into the forum issue for me. I look forward to getting the Ghost Rider and the Midnight Sons up and running on the database.AgentPendergast 03:27, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

Sidebars
Hi Jamie,
I took a look at the sidebars today, but had a hard time figuring out how those -url ones work. Could you update Marvel and DC's sidebars with links to Dark Horse and Image in the Community, and then update Image and Darkhorse's sidebars to be the same as marvel and DC's? That stuff had me relatively confused rather quickly for some reason. I believe we have some links in the current sidebars that go nowhere too. . .
Thanks! :)

- No worries, I have updated MDP and DCDP projects' sidebars. (Click the link to see what I did. I created these too.)
- Mediawiki:pagename-url controls the url while Mediawiki:pagename is the text displayed in the sidebar.
- By mistake my old account "JamieHari" has Sysop, not "Jamie".
- I will update IDP and DHDP as soon as I am granted Sysop. (Angela is working on it)
- Cheers!

Talk:Mutation Level Scale
Hey, you probably get asked this periodically, but - was this issue resolved? There are still Categories and lists in the Homo Superior article referring to this scale, but it's been a year and, I assume, no citations.
- Roygbiv666 20:20, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
- I am all for nuking the offending sections and page(s). It has bugged me since it came up a year ago.
- I really don't like these psuedo-factual pages... *ahem* ... because the rest of the comic universe is SO DARNED FACTUAL. lol

In the News
What do you think about changing the name from "News" (or, "In the News" as it was on the DCDP) to, say, "The Daily Bugle"? Keep all the templates the same, just make the link look that way -- [[News|The Daily Bugle]]. Roygbiv666 13:23, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
- I am up for it, if everyone else is. :)
- Obviously, the DC site should change to the Daily Planet, or similar.
- Ping everyone on the forums and if they agree, then let's do it. :)
- Cheers,
- --Jamie 03:16, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
- He pinged the forums on this already and I agreed...but thought he should check with you. Seems that it was not a MAJOR change like I thought he was talking about. I just changed it on here as well...couldn't find a good picture though like he put on the DC side. :( If you or ANYONE find one, be sure to add it to the news page as well. --M1shawhan 00:04, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
- Will do. Thanks for checking in with me. :)

How do I report a spambot?
http://marvel.wikia.com/wiki/Special:Contributions/Desirefemale I undid all three edits the spammer has made so far. I searched the wiki, but don't see anywhere to report people like this to. Dream Focus 22:08, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you for letting me know!
- You can either post something on the talk page of a staff member, as you did, or on the forums.
- Thanks again for letting us know! (And for cleaning up!)

Announcement: New Parser
Something the good people at Wikia wanted us to be aware of: Switching to the new parser. FYI.

No Confirmation E-Mail
I'm sorry to bother you with this, but I recieved no confirmation e-mail when registering to the Marvel Database's forum. I tried sending a "resend confirmation e-mail" form, but I did not recieve anything despite the forum stating it sent one. --DanMat6288 22:21, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry for the delay in replying. If you are still trying to register, please provide your username on the forums, and I will just approve your account, manually.

Evaluation
If you are willing to, could you possibly assess the situation concerning Ralnon and with Stature; the former was infinitely blocked for "intimidation and harassment," but I was wondering if you could possibly try to impartially judge the situation carefully by yourself and determine whether the infinite ban was entirely fair and warranted. Thanks! Masr Keesha 19:19, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you for bringing it to my attention. My apologies for the delay in responding.
- I will review the situation and we will go from there.
- Kind regards,

Hey
hey, i heard the news about disney buying marvel inc. but did disney also buy the rights to the characters ?. because ive been reading on other websites, and they say that they have. but where does that put stan lee then ?. would stan lee loose the right to these characters ?.
thanks
Anvillious 12:25, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
- Marvel Entertainment Inc owns the copyrights to the characters. When Disney buys Marvel, they will own EVERYTHING Marvel did.
- If Marvel has any contractual obligations to Stan Lee, today, those will very likely remain in place; nothing changes there.
- Cheers!

Wiki Logo
As I have recently created a new wiki, the question has arose as to how you change a wiki logo once one has been selected? --Magnus 11:27, November 2, 2009 (UTC)
- Hey Magnus!
- There are 3 ways you can probably do this:
- Contact community@wikia.com to have them update it for you. (Assuming it is a Wikia wiki. If it is not, see #4.)
- Edit MediaWiki:Common.css
- Edit MediaWiki:Monobook.css (where 'Monobook' is the name of the skin you are using)
- Edit your LocalSettings.php file. (If it is not a Wikia wiki.)
- I hope that helps!
- Cheers,

Thanks
Oh, really? There's a new policy now? Forgive me, I was truly unaware of this, as I was not here for quite some time. But should not the Wikipedia source template be altogether deleted (at Template:Wikipedia) if this is so? But would blocking those users who merely want to help improve this wiki be acceptable to the community as well? I mean, no offence, but there are quite a few vandals here every week already, and I really was surprised by the number of currently blocked users, and I doubt many of them have been blocked for copying from Wikipedia. However, if such action was to be taken against them...Nevertheless, Jamie, does this mean the GNU policy is completely invalid for this wiki? Also, another question I am confused about is this: Can any wiki do anything it wants, and I mean anything, like racist remarks, cursing, flaming, porn, as long as its community is willing to accept it? Does Wikia have general standards set for each one, or not at all? If you wish, Jamie, I will of course leave the wiki if this becomes too much of a problem for others, if so many people are offended by what I have done, but, like, seriously, it was my first few edits after months of inactivity...Wtf? At least this once they could have been more lenient...Thank you, however, for pointing this out to me. I will of course waste no more of your time. Best wishes, Ralnon (talk) 23:24, November 13, 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you again for your reply.
- Yes, I believe that template should probably be modified or deleted altogether to reflect the new policy. Often remnants of old policies float around until someone finds them, as you did.
- While I don't do the blocking personally, the general idea behind it is that our rules and policies must be followed. If a person does not agree with the rules, they are free to explain why they believe the policy is flawed and the community can reach a consensus about how it should be.
- If the policy remains and the user refuses to follow it, we believe that our priority is to protect the integrity of our project's ideals.
- The GNU 'policy' is actually not a policy, but rather a license. The license allows us to copy content from other similarly licensed sites, as long as proper attribution is given to the original authors. (Which I understand you did not do, therefore you/we were in violation of the GNU FDL.)
- While we are allowed to copy from Wikipedia, we CHOOSE not to do so. We believe our project stands stronger because of this choice and serves to grow and protect our reputation in the comic book community.
- A wiki, especially the Marvel and DC which were created before Wikia took over them, can certainly set their own policies, as long as they don't do anything illegal or against Wikia's policies.
- Choosing not to allow direct copying from other sources is well within our power.
- I definitely do not want you to leave the site. It is my understanding that you are a tireless contributor with a great deal of knowledge, likely surpassing my own!
- You are free to raise concerns about our policies on the forums, presenting your arguments for civil debate.
- It has happened MANY times in the past where we have changed policies because one person found a flaw in our current methods. We certainly aren't perfect and neither are our policies.
- With that said, while a given policy remains in effect, we ask that you comply with it or refrain from violating it by not editing.
- Like I say, the policy could very easily be changed, but as it stands today, we believe the cons outweigh the pros and so copying directly from Wikipedia is not allowed.
- Okay, time to wrap this up...
- We all appreciate your contributions and dedication and hope you choose to stay.
- Cheers,
- --Jamie 17:51, November 14, 2009 (UTC)
Thank you for your response. However, please note that I did add the Wikipedia template after copying from it, though perhaps it has since been removed for whatever reason I am unaware of, which I had thought would be sufficient as source-attribution. Also note that, despite my poor number of edits, the majority of them were not from Wikipedia, though the real reason for copying was, because, well, it was I who had made those edits to Wikipedia, and I thought it might be beneficial to both this and Wikipedia, and spread knowledge more effectively, if both articles had such extensive information. Additionally, sometimes it was actually the other way around...However, thank you for taking the time to explain this to me, in a rather more 'civil' (as you say) tone than the sysops who contacted me about this. I mean, at least there were fewer capital letters...I just wanted to say that in this alone you have earned my full respect, and, though I wish to leave this wiki if but only for reasons for appeasing others, if ever you should require my help, unlikely as it would be for one with such experience and knowledge, do not hesitate to contact me. Best wishes, Ralnon (talk) 20:07, November 15, 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you for letting me know; I wish you the best in your other endeavours.
