SDCC 2012 Exclusives
Okay, I know there isn't much toy coverage here on the Database, but over the past year, my interests have shifted quite a bit from comics into Marvel toys.

Added by PeteparkerIn my mind (possibly not in reality though), toys retain their value longer than comics do these days, and in some cases, actually increase in value over time. Hence the shift.
In any case, I've only been collecting Marvel Universe and a bit of Marvel Legends for less than a year now, and I've never experienced something as difficult and as frustrating as trying to buy the Hasbro exclusives at San Diego Comic Con.
Last year I was in line a total of 6 hours before I finally was able to purchase my SDCC 2011 Marvel Universe Sentinel.
This year, I thought I'd save myself some time by hitting the Hasbro booth early on Preview night, getting it out of the way for the rest of the weekend.
We arrived at the line to get into the floor at 2, 4 hours before Preview night opened. We were approximately 200th in line. As soon as the doors opened we were practically running to the Hasbro booth (same spot as last year), only to find that the line was COMPLETELY FULL and ALREADY CAPPED! Comic Con employees began nerd-herding everyone away from the booth, one saddened collector at a time.
An hour or so later, I was able to find a person who was only interested in picking up one of the My Little Pony Derpy Hooves figures, and I offered to purchase it for them if I could stand in line in their place. 2 hours later, as I neared the register, I looked at the badges around me. They were ALL Exhibitors!
Last year, Exhibitors were turned away from the line in an effort to give regular patrons a chance first. This year, the line was completely filled with them BEFORE anyone else could get into the floor!
I bought almost everything I possibly could in an effort to help out fellow collectors (and had it all sold before I went to sleep that night).
By late Saturday, almost everything was sold out.
Good luck to you fellow collectors attempting to get this stuff on HasbroToyShop.com this week!
