Marvel Comics made a HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT this morning! They have cast the next Spider-Man for the upcoming reboot, and also decided on a director for the next Spider-Man movie.
The 19-year-old English actor Tom Holland has been cast as Peter Parker. If you're not familiar with his work, he is mostly known for his role as Billy Elliot in the stage production Billy Elliot the Musical. Producers Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige were impressed by his performances in the movies The Impossible, Wolf Hall, and the upcoming In the Heart of the Sea. Earlier this week, prior to the announcement, Holland went on Instagram to show off his sweet acrobatic moves.
The director chosen is Jon Watts, also a relative newcomer. The movies under his belt include the Eli Roth-produced horror movie Clown, and an upcoming road thriller titled Cop Car starring Kevin Bacon. Watts also has a history of doing videos for The Onion.
