The Wikia community has spoken, and The Almighty Thor has emerged victorious!

What exactly am I talking about? Well, for the past few weeks, Wikia has played Beyonder, pitting 100 of Marvel Comics’ Avengers against each other in the ultimate Battle Royale -- the bracket tournament to end all bracket tournaments. Along the way, Wikians voted on which hero they felt would win each match-up... advancing their favorite characters to the next round of fighting until -- as the Highlander would say -- “there can be only one.”

And while it might seem obvious to some that the god of Thunder would handily win the crown of “Ultimate Avenger,” his ascension to the title was no cake walk. Along the way, the character faced such formidable opponents as Yondu, Mr. Immortal, Iron Fist, Thing, Wolverine, The Incredible Hulk, and Iron Man. But in the end, he smoked them all!

Would you expect any less from the Odinson? With powers ranging from superhuman strength, stamina, speed, longevity and senses; godlike invulnerability; energy manipulation; magical abilities; and more, Thor really does rack up as one of the most powerful of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. Now how does our “little” match-up translate to the big screen (after all, The Avengers are making their live-action debut today)? Well, you’ll have to see for yourself. But we can tell you that a couple of our match-ups will actually play out before your very eyes (Thor vs. Iron Man! Thor vs. Hulk!).
