History

The captain of the Starship USS Vanguard — a Fleet Commander in the Federation Starfleet — ventured into the center of the galaxy and discovered the Omnicrystal, and a being, Lhikan, inside. Lhikan was several million years old, having originally been an inhabitant of the plant Lareld. He himself traveled to the central planet of his galaxy, in search of what lay there. He found the Omnicrystal, on the planet Centerpoint, one of the three Great Crystals that form the matrix for the universe. He formed a special link with it. Meanwhile, Lareld was under attack by the Being, a creature of pure energy. Lhikan used the power of the Omnicrystal to transport the majority of the population of Lareld to Centerpoint, while a small group of about 75 Lareldians stayed behind to hold off the Being while the others were teleported. As a reward for their heroism and bravery, the primitive intelligence originally possessed by the Omnicrystal teleported them, and granted them, plus Lhikan, great power. For many thousands of years they served to defend the Omnicrystal from countless threats. Eventually, the Being arrived at Centerpoint and during the final showdown, Lhikan transfered his consciousness into the Omnicrystal. It is unknown what happened to the others. After merging, Phoenix (named after the starship) has traveled the galaxy in the USS Vanguard battling evil and righting wrongs. He is currently involved in battling the current form of the Being, called the Unimatrix, near the planet Mechni Teltus III.

Powers and Abilities

Powers

This is a list of all known energy-based powers, created entirely by me, myself, and I. Ultimate Phoenix, being the sum totality of the power of the Omnicrystal, which controls the fabric of reality, and thus possesses unlimited control over matter and energy, is merely a vessel to create a list of all known powers within a character template. If Ultimate Phoenix is ever used in my stories, he will NOT have all these powers. He will only control the electromagnetic spectrum, and possibly have energy transformation powers as well.

Energy Absorption: Ultimate Phoenix can absorb nearly all known forms of energy.

Energy Projection: Ultimate Phoenix can project several forms of energy.

  • Pyrokinesis: Ultimate Phoenix can project and control heat and flame. He can use this ability to burn or combust objects (or beings, if he so desired), and can focus it with extreme precision, often using it for writing or surgery.
    • Infrared Radiation Projection: Ultimate Phoenix can project beams of infrared energy for various effects.
      • Infrared Energy Blasts: Ultimate Phoenix can project devastating blasts of infrared radiation (heat). Depending on the wavelength, they can char the outside of a target, severely damage it, or fry it all the way through (Near, Middle, and Far Infrared, respectively.
      • Healing: Ultimate Phoenix can heal himself and others.
        • Self-Healing: While in human form, Ultimate Phoenix can heal himself, to a limited degree, by using far-infrared energy. The speed and extent of healing depend on the amount of energy he has absorbed.
        • Healing of Others: Ultimate Phoenix can heal others in the immediate vicinity, (i.e., within about 10 meters/11 yards), by using far infrared rays. This ability only uses a small amount of energy, and thus he can exercise it infinitely pending normal environmental energy level conditions.
      • Target Point Infrared Concentration: Ultimate Phoenix can precisely control and focus infrared radiation on specific spots on or inside a target. This can be used for actually heating that point, precision surgery or writing, or other purposes.
        • Spot Healing: Ultimate Phoenix can concentrate a large amount of far-infrared radiation in a specific spot or area. This is typically used on a severe wound, damaged organ, or even a tumor.
        • Spot Cooling: Ultimate Phoenix can absorb all infrared energy from a certain point or area.
    • Conduction: Ultimate Phoenix can utilize conduction as a method of heat/energy transfer.
      • Heat Transfer: Ultimate Phoenix can control the transfer of heat via direct contact.
        • In Human Form: Ultimate Phoenix can transfer his entire reserve of thermal energy in the space of only a few seconds with direct contact, superheating a target.
        • In Energy Form: Ultimate Phoenix, upon extending a portion of his mass to touch a target, can transform a target into plasma in less than one second, depending on target size and Ultimate Phoenix's energy reserves.
      • Reverse Heat Transfer: Ultimate Phoenix can reverse the heat transfer process, freezing a target.
        • In Human Form: Ultimate Phoenix can freeze a target in a matter of moments by reversing the process of conduction. This depends primarily on his health, concentration, and strength of will, as the laws of physics are difficult to defy. In fact, the less energy, especially thermal energy, he possesses at the time, the easier and faster it is.
        • In Energy Form: Ultimate Phoenix, upon extending a portion of his mass to touch a target, can supercool a target, by reversing the process of conduction, in the space of less than a minute, for a target the size of a house, to nearly an hour for a target the size of a large starship, depending on his strength of will and concentration (see above).
    • Convection: Ultimate Phoenix can control the process of convection.
      • Heat Transfer: Ultimate Phoenix can draw and redirect heat from any part of a planetary or artificial atmosphere, providing he has access or proximity to one.
        • Thermal Redirection: Ultimate Phoenix can manipulate the process of convection to redirect heat from anywhere within a radius of 320 kilometers in all directions and focus it on a target. He must be within a planetary or artificial atmosphere or in close proximity to one to do this, the target must be within or directly in contact with the atmosphere, and the distance to the atmosphere squared is included in the 320 kilometers distance. For example, if he was ten kilometers from a planetary atmosphere, he could manipulate any thermal energy via the process of convection within 220 kilometers. This takes considerable amount of concentration and willpower, depending on the distance the energy is being drawn from, the amount of thermal energy in the atmosphere (greater is easier), the amount of thermal energy present in the target (less is easier), and the distance to the target.
      • Reverse Heat Transfer: Ultimate Phoenix can redirect heat energy away from a target, via convection.
        • Thermal Absorption: Ultimate Phoenix can absorb heat from any part of a planetary or artificial atmosphere he is in and absorb it, increasing his size and energy level. This takes a certain amount of concentration and will power, and the less thermal energy in the atmosphere, and the more in him, the harder, slower, and less efficient the process is.
        • Freezing: Ultimate Phoenix can freeze a target by drawing all heat away from it via convection currents. Again, the lower the target is in the atmosphere, and the warmer the air is around the target, the more effect Ultimate Phoenix can have
    • Decoy Creation: Ultimate Phoenix can create firebirds or other creatures out of flame or heat and animate them. They can serve as decoys, create diversions, or fight at his side. However, a large amount of energy is siphoned off him and/or the environment when he exercises this last power. In addition, a large amount of concentration is needed to control and animate the fire creatures.

  • Photokinesis: Ultimate Phoenix can project and control light.
    • Laser Beam Projection: Ultimate Phoenix can create laser-like beams.
      • Laser Cutting: Ultimate Phoenix can cut through most substances with extreme precision.
      • Targeting Beam: Ultimate Phoenix can project laser range-finding beams to aid his targeting.
    • Flare Creation Ultimate Phoenix can create a blinding flare of light.
    • Wide Area Light Control: Ultimate Phoenix can project and control ambient light in the area.
      • Light Area: Ultimate Phoenix can light the immediate area around him.
      • Darkness: Ultimate Phoenix can create a field of darkness up to several miles across by absorbing all light in that area.
    • Light Blasts: Ultimate Phoenix can project wide-beam concussive light energy.
    • Hologram Projection: Ultimate Phoenix can create and control life-like, moving holograms.

  • Electrokinesis: Ultimate Phoenix can project and control electricity.

  • Magnetokinesis: Ultimate Phoenix can project and control magnetic energy.

  • Radiokinesis: Ultimate Phoenix can transmit and receive broadcasts on the radio spectrum and use radio energy to jam other transmissions, as well as for other purposes.

  • Microwave Energy Control: Ultimate Phoenix can project and precisely control microwave-spectrum energy for a variety of effects. These include creating a shield of it, shorting out electronic devices, jamming, heating objects, exciting substances, transmitting and receiving information, and causing intense pain.

  • Ultraviolet Energy Control: Ultimate Phoenix can project and control ultraviolet-spectrum energy. He can use this power to grant him better vision, quicker healing for himself, more efficient life processes, or against an opponent. He can heat/burn other beings and objects, as well as mark them for tracking, give them diseases, cause them intense pain, or for various other effects.

  • X-ray Energy Control: Ultimate Phoenix can project and control X-ray spectrum energy. He can use it for X-ray vision, to mark his position, use long range radar, degenerate others' tissue, cause them intense pain, give them diseases, use it for medical purposes, use it for tracking, or for various other effects.

  • Gammakinesis: Ultimate Phoenix can project and control Gamma ray energy. He can use it in the form of energy blasts, irradiate others or objects, use it to increase his vision, empower others, give them diseases, cause them intense pain, track them, induce nuclear explosions, and for various other effects.

Energy Conversion: Ultimate Phoenix can perform various energy conversions.

  • Energy Release: One of Ultimate Phoenix's most potent and awe-inspiring powers, he can use it to turn chemical or potential nuclear energy into light energy, thermal energy, or limited amounts of sonic and electrical energy. This ability can be used in concert with his other energy absorbing and control powers. For example, he could transform the chemical/nuclear energy of a missile into thermal energy, and absorb it, or direct it back at a target, or cause the fuel supply to spontaneously combust in the vicinity of an enemy, and convert that into light energy, blinding them.

  • Energy Storage: Ultimate Phoenix can transform kinetic energy into potential energy. For example, he could turn a fireball into wood or a nuclear explosion or other powerful energy discharge into matter. This is an ability he rarely uses, and is not especially formidable.

  • Energy Transformation: Ultimate Phoenix can transform energy from one form to another. For example, he can turn thermal energy into light energy, or electrical energy into magnetic energy.

Telekinesis: Ultimate Phoenix can move objects with his mind.

  • Superhuman Strength: Ultimate Phoenix can lift over 100 tons with maximum energy absorption, using telekinesis in energy form.

Energy Form: Ultimate Phoenix's body is composed of energy in true form.

  • Superhuman Durability: Ultimate Phoenix is almost impossible to destroy in energy form.

  • Superhuman Stamina: Ultimate Phoenix can exert his powers and abilities, including telekinesis, for an unlimited amount of time, providing that he has sufficient energy reserves, and ambient energy is available in the environment to recharge those reserves as fast or faster than he is exerting himself and his powers, if necessary.

  • Morphing: Ultimate Phoenix can transform into an unlimited variety of beings, be they mechanical or biological.

  • Virtual Immortality: Ultimate Phoenix has a life span of approximately several billion years at the very least.

Adaptation: Ultimate Phoenix can analyze others' powers and adapt to reduce their effectiveness.

Telepathy: Ultimate Phoenix can read minds, project his thoughts, and has limited control of the minds of others in the immediate vicinity.

Force Field Creation: Ultimate Phoenix can create powerful energy shields and force fields.

Abilities

Genus: Ultimate Phoenix possesses extensive knowledge of most subjects. He has the processing capacity of a starbase central computer, yet the adaptability and the Hierarchal Trained Memory (HTM) patterns of a human. Via his mindlink to the Omnicrystal, the source of his power, he can access it's nearly unlimited processing capacity and memory database and it constantly records all the data gathered by him. Thus, Ultimate Phoenix has a complete videographic memory archive at his synapse-tips.

Brilliant Tactician: Ultimate Phoenix possesses extensive experience with knowledge of battle tactics. Lhikan had vast experience with land battles, fighting with powers, and hand-to-hand combat. The Starship Commander knew much about vehicle/vessel combat, space combat, and fighting with weapons and technology. Together, they are nearly invincible in battle.

Brilliant Strategist and Planner: Ultimate Phoenix is extremely skilled at formulating complex, detailed plans with multiple contingency options. He excels at thinking through every facet of a situation and adapting rapidly to new developments. All these aforementioned abilities take mere seconds to execute.

Skilled Scientist/Inventor: Ultimate Phoenix is extremely proficient at science and inventing, inherited mainly from Lhikan. He is very analytical and methodical, but also can make intuitive leaps. He can construct complex devices from whatever materials are on hand, and is skilled at repair. He can think up new innovations for every situation.

Translation: Ultimate Phoenix is fluent in the majority of languages, both ancient and modern, earth, and alien. He is also proficient at learning a language rapidly. This is assisted by his powers, as he can use them to detect neural-electrical activity in the brain. As a last resort, he can always use his powerful telepathic abilities.

Strength level

In energy (true) form, more than 100 tons at peak energy absorption. In his human form, without enhancement with ambient energy or energy reserves, Ultimate Phoenix has the normal strength of a male adult human who engages in intensive regular exercises and combat training routines.

Weaknesses

Power Exhaustion: In environments with little ambient energy, like interstellar space, Ultimate Phoenix is prone to exhausting his powers after a protracted battle.

Time-Consuming Adaptation: Ultimate Phoenix's adaptation powers take quite some time to work.

Sonics: Vulnerable to sonic energy, as he can't control it like he can most other forms of energy.

Dispersion: Can be defeated (but not destroyed) by using sonic, concussive, or other types of energy to disperse the plasma that composes his "body".

Energy Vacuum: The only way to kill Ultimate Phoenix in his energy form is if all his energy and all the energy in a wide area around him is absorbed or otherwise eliminated.

During Transformations: Ultimate Phoenix is vulnerable when he is shape-shifting from one matter form to another, very vulnerable during and immediately after transforming from energy to matter, and is slightly more vulnerable when changing from matter to energy.

While In Human Form: When Ultimate Phoenix is in human form, he is nearly as vulnerable as one. However, between the USS Vanguard, USS Phoenix, his cybersuit, his enhanced physic and healing ability, his genius and combat training, his various powers, and his ability to transform in less than one second into his energy form, this vulnerability is rarely exploited.

Personality: Arrogant, egotistical, stubborn and narcissistical.

Transportation:

USS Vanguard: The Vanguard is an advanced, prototype starship of the Vanguard Class.

Weapons:

  • Delta Phasers: Standard general purpose weapons, Delta Phasers are focused by Delta crystals. They have moderate range, moderate power, and can fire continuously for several seconds at a time. They are green in color, and their power and width can be modulated precisely. The Vanguard has 8 dual delta phaser units, 3 each on the top and bottom of the saucer module, and 1 each on the top and bottom of the engineering hull. They are generally used defensively in the Vanguard, are multidirectional, and are very accurate. Their beams are thin and light green in color.

  • Plasma Phasers: Designed to clear rubble or debris, finish off shieldless or wounded starships, or to serve as a distraction to enemy targeting, plasma phasers are not very effective against well shielded ships. They are excellent, though, at disintegrating armor, hulls, and the ships themselves, as well as most other types of matter. They are focused by Gamma crystals. They have very short range and fairly low power, but can fire continuously for long periods of time, use up little energy, and do not suffer from long recharge times. The Vanguard has two plasma phaser emplacements, both contained within the navigational defector. Although the Vanguard's plasma phasers can only fire forward, they are equipped with swivel mounts. They appear orange in color when fired, and look like a well focused flamethrower.

  • Pulse Phasers: Starfleet's primary pulse weapon, Pulse Phasers are fairly large, at least for a pulse weapon, but are not widely used on starships. They are focused by Ceti Crystals, and can focus moderate amounts of energy with a moderate focus level for short bursts. They fire sublight pulses of energy; while each individual shot is weak, a string of bolts fired in succession can be deadly. While the Vanguard's Pulse Phasers are not multidirectional, they can modify their trajectories by about 15 degrees in any direction internally. The Vanguard possesses 8 Pulse Phasers, mounted on the engineering hull around the nav. deflector in pairs of two. Their bolts are short, fairly wide, and yellow in color.

  • Lance Phasers: The Vanguard boasts 4 prototype Lance Phasers, 2 mounted on each warp drive unit. They are multidirectional, to a point, but are most powerful when fired straight ahead. Unlike most other lance weapons, they have dedicated energy storage banks coupled to charge coils, allowing each to be fired for nearly a minute before needing to recharge, and being able reach power levels much higher than normally would be possible for a ship of the Vanguard's size, while not sacrificing other systems in the process. However, to completely recharge them takes from 10 minutes to an hour, depending on energy usage by other systems, the condition of the ship, and other factors. Lance Phasers have enormous range, can be fired continuously for long periods of time, and have fairly high power levels. However, their long recharge time hampers their effectiveness, and there are more powerful weapons out there, such as Xeon torpedoes. Their beams are thin, taper even thinner the further they go, and are red in color.

  • Xeon Torpedoes: The Vanguard's most powerful weapon in terms of energy density and raw destructive force, Xeon torpedoes are focused by Beta crystals. They are spheres of energy with a Beta crystal and guidance computer in the center. They can pursue their targets at high-warp speed, if the Vanguard is traveling via warp drive. They can follow other ships, as the guidance computer can manipulate the Beta crystal to cause fluctuations in the energy bubble and change course. The Beta crystal controls the energy bubble and keeps in focused around itself, but on impact with a target, the crystal shatters and the enormous amount of energy can be released. Although Beta crystals are fairly small and thousands can be stored on the Vanguard at a time, a great amount of energy is needed to charge up the Beta crystal to a high energy level. Xeon Torpedoes are slightly slower than Quantum Torpedoes, and take much more energy to generate, but are much more powerful. They are blue in color and slightly stretched out, not being perfectly round. They do have greater range than most other weapons, besides Lance Phasers. However, like most other torpedoes, it is difficult for them to track smaller, faster, and more maneuverable targets such as fighters, shuttles, runabouts, and other smaller craft.

  • Quantum Torpedoes: Quantum Torpedoes are also spheres of energy with a Gamma crystal and guidance computer in the center. They can pursue their targets at high-warp speed, if the Vanguard is traveling via warp drive. They can follow other ships, as the guidance computer can manipulate the Gamma crystal to cause fluctuations in the energy bubble and change course. The Gamma crystal controls the energy bubble and keeps in focused around itself, but on impact with a target, the crystal shatters and the enormous amount of energy can be released. Gamma crystals are fairly small and common, and thousands can be stored on the Vanguard at a time. As they cannot store as much energy and keep it in check for as long, Quantum Torpedoes take a relatively short time to charge up and can be fired in spreads, patterns, or in succession. They do, however, still use a certain amount of energy, and can't be fired indefinitely. Ten to twenty is the maximum amount of torpedoes that can be charged and fired in direct succession, depending on current power consumption and the amount of damage taken, without depleting other systems. Quantum Torpedoes are slightly faster than Xeon Torpedoes, but are much less powerful. They are orange in color and are nearly perfectly spherical. They have a shorter range than Xeon torpedoes, though, about that of delta phasers. However, they can track smaller, faster, and more maneuverable targets such as fighters, shuttles, runabouts, and other smaller craft better, although not nearly as well as missiles.

Defenses:

  • Deflector Shields: The Vanguard's shields are focused by Beta crystals, are inordinatly powerful for a ship of its size, and can recharge quickly. They are the powerful energy fields around starships, and are most vessels' first lime of defense against enemy attacks. The Vanguard's shields, though, consume a considerable amount of energy, primarily when recharging. Shields block both energy and particle attacks, although they are actually more effective against the latter. The Vanguards shields are usually up at all times when not in core Federation space.
  • Force-Field Screens: The Vanguard, regardless of her location, always has her force-field screens active. They are her primary defense against collisions, debris, and matter/particle based attacks. If she is attacked by enemy ships, they can hold their own for the few vital moments until the shields power up. They don't interfere with transporters, use very little power, and aren't crystal focused. If they are ever deactivated, they can snap on almost instantaneously, and rarely burn out, even for the few seconds they are subjected to enemy attacks or asteroid collisions. All ships, regardless of size or ownership, possess them, as they prevent stray molecule, dust, meteoroid, and other minor collisions. In addition, they can help prevent collisions between ships and prevent them from being fatal if they do occur. In larger starships, especially Starfleet ones, they work in concert with the navigational defector to prevent collisions with asteroids and other larger objects.
  • Navigational Deflector: The Vanguard's NavDef, as it is called, is focused by Ceti Crystals. It incorporates an array of presser

Tractor Beams, and other advanced weapons.

Advanced sensors, communications devices, medical equipment, and computers,

USS Phoenix: The USS Phoenix forms the command section of the USS Vanguard, containing the bridge, the computer center, Ultimate Phoenix's quarters, the Omnicrystal, a Type X Collimated Phaser strip, and has an advanced sensor array, the Vanguard's primary communications system, a medical bay, a tractor beam, a sublight and a small warp drive, a powerful shield generator, atmospheric thrusters, and Ultimate Phoenix's battle machine mecha, the Titan. The USS Phoenix itself is like the captain's yacht of a Sovereign or Galaxy class starship, but is larger, armed, and is the core of the ship. It is often used to travel down to a planet's surface or as a last resort escape pod.

Transporters: Both the Vanguard and the Phoenix have transporters, the Vanguard having several. They are basically teleporters, and have a surface to high orbit range. However, they have several limitations. Transporters are not extremely reliable, and, in rare cases, scramble the being's atoms that it is transporting. However, this almost never happens when beaming between two transporters (1 in 100,000+). It usually happens when a transporter is beaming to a remote location (1 in 1,000), especially through an atmosphere or magnetic field, such as in a planet beam-down (1 in 100). In addition, remote beaming damages the fabric of space time somewhat. Even more importantly, almost every military facility and starship has an anti-transport field which prevents unauthorized beaming. Finally, when a starship has activated it's shields or other defenses, the transporter cannot be used. The transporter uses an enormous amount of energy to work, primarily when there is not a receiving station.

Shuttles and Fighters: The Vanguard has several shuttles and fighters in it's docking bay. Shuttles have weak armament and medium shields, but have warp drives. Fighters are slightly faster at sublight speeds, are more maneuverable, and have fairly good armament and shields, but have no warp drives and are smaller.

Weapons: Coming Soon!

Notes

  • Despite his name and his energy form assuming the appearance of a large, majestic firebird, Ultimate Phoenix has no known relation to the Phoenix Force or any of it's hosts.

Trivia

  • Ultimate Phoenix (Lhikan) is several million years old, quite possibly older.
