Synopsis for "Deadly Messengers"
Inside Gambit's mind, Psylocke explores a subdued landscape of New Orleans, sensing something amiss in Remy's past. In reality, Gambit finally wakes up from his coma before Psylocke can dig too deep into his mind. Gambit confronts her, and she tries to explain her concern for his well-being after the recent events.
Meanwhile, in New York City, the the three X-Men Cannonball, Storm and Wolverine face off against Gene Nation members, Sack and Vessel. While Sack can possess other people's bodies, the strong Vessel absorbs the souls of the people he kills. While Cannonball is taking care of Sack, Beast arrives on the scene and rescues Graydon Creed from being crushed by a chunk of masonry thrown by Vessel. When Wolverine realizes the true nature of Vessel's powers, he is able to defeat him so that the souls he absorbed can return to their original bodies.
In Millstone, Arizona, Rogue and Iceman visit a saloon, where Bobby is startled by a waitress resembling Emma Frost. Rogue initially went to this saloon because it is part of the memories she absorbed after kissing Gambit. Later, Iceman tries to call Emma Frost via telephone but she intentionally does not respond to Bobby's call.
