Synopsis for "Remember the Alamo"

Reprint of the 1st story from
Two-Gun Kid #75

This is an imaginary story, happening in a reality where the Two Gun Kid and his supporting cast were active in the 1830s (despite the anachronisms), at the time of the Texan war of Independence.

The Kid was battling the outlaw gang of Wolf Fargo in the OK corral. One of of the bandits tried to shoot him from behind, but was he was shoot isntead aby a third party, a strange newcomer. The Kid quickly defeated the rest of the gang.

Two-Gun Kid thanked the newcomer and asked his name.He said that he was Jim Bowie and that he had heard of the fame of the Two-Gun Kid. The Kid said to have heard many thing of Bowie and his famous knife. He also considered to in debt with Bowie. Fargo took adventage of the chat to escape the town. The local sheriff arrived to scene to take care of the rest of the prisoners. The kid pursued Fargo, but he couldn't catch him because the outlaw ran into the nearby desert. Bowie catched up to the Kid after one hour and tell him that Fargo woudl be punished by crossing the deadly flats. Bowie then went to the Alamo way to tend some business (the defense of the fort).

Two-Gun Kid returned to Tombstone, and some time later he was having fun at the annual barn dance as Matthew Hawk, dancing with his girlfriend, Nancy Carter. She tought why Matthew still hadn't proposed to her. Sheriff Brett Barton told his deputy that the pair would be married soon. However, Matthew secret confident, Boom Boom Brown, thought that situation was impossible, since it would end the Two-Gun Kid career as vigilante.

Suddenly, a messenger arrived to town, bringing the news of the siege of the Alamo Fort by the mexican army, leaded by General Santa Anna. The messenger worried that if the reinforcements didn't arrive, the fort would fall. Matt thought of the situation and realized that Bowie was fighting in the Alamo, so he decided to go to help. He went ot his office and told Boom Boom his intentions. His friend told him that he was crazy because he was two days as far for the Alamo and he wouldn't arrive in time. Matt replied that he had a debt to paid and that Boom Boom should remain in Tombstone to help the sheriff to protect the town.

The Kid went into the hot desert, but he was attacked by a gang of mescaleros apaches. He defend himself with his revolver, installing fear in his attackers. The Kid ran out of ammunition and had to confront the chief of the Mescaleros hand to hand. Both fell to nearby waterfall and the Kid climbed to the surface, meeting his horse Thunder again and continuing his journey.

When the Two Gun Kid finally arrived to thee fort, he discovered that it had fallen already. He saw the ruins and the massacre and concluded that there were no survivors. He wondered why the reinforcements hadn't arrived to the fort. The Kid watched the ruined fort for hours until a Texas column arrived. The Major of the column talk to the Kid and said that the suspension bridge of Cayuse Cannon had been cut down. So the column had to ran around the cannon, wasting time to arrive to sieged fort. The Major told the Kid that Wolf Fargo was the one that cut the bridge. Two Gun Kid concluded that Fargo did it to take revenge on Jim Bowie, making sure of his death and the fall of the fort to the mexicans. So the Kid decided to catch Fargo and take revenge on him, prefering to go alone.
