Talk:X-Force (Strike Team) (Earth-616)

Back to page | Redirected from Talk:X-Force (Earth-616)

Am I the only one who thinks we need to separate the current X-Force team from the 90s team? I mean, aside from a few characters, a similar goal (be more proactive than the X-Men), and the name...there's no ties. Different origins, different team leaders, and different histories. --GrnMarvl14 23:30, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

As the new teams history becomes more complex, it might be inevitable. And as you said, the tie between them is a bit tenuous. So yes, i agree.--Max 23:40, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
I completely agree. I thought we did this at one point, but I guess not. I think the two should be split but it is hard to come up with names for the split. Something like "X-Force (New Mutants) (Earth-616)" for the old team? Other than "X-Force (Crazy Team) (Earth-616)" for the new team, I am at a loss for names. :( --M1shawhan 23:48, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
I'd be okay with X-Force (New Mutants) (Earth-616) for the older team. For the current one, I've been using X-Force (Strike Team) (Earth-616) when I've been doing the issues, so unless someone's been going through and changing that, it would probably be easier to stick to that. As for why it's "Strike Team", that was basically the first description I heard of the team when it was introduced in some interview. But I'm open to other ideas.
--GrnMarvl14 00:08, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
I'd go with X-Force (Original Team) (Earth-616) and X-Force (Cyclops' Strike Team) (Earth-616) or (X-Men Strike Team) (Earth-616).MaGnUs 06:32, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
We could have the original team remain simply X-Force (Earth-616). That's what we've done with the original X-Factor (Earth-616). If not, X-Force (Original Team) would be my second choice. The new version would work best as X-Force (Strike Team), I think. (We really need a poll function on this wiki...)--Max 06:49, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
Of course! X-Force (Original Team) (Earth-616)! I actually thought there WAS an X-Force (Strike Team) (Earth-616) page?!?! If not, I am fine with any of these changes if ya'll are. --M1shawhan 23:51, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
X-Force (Strike Team) (Earth-616) is currently just redirected to X-Force (Earth-616). Not sure if the same is true for the appearances (they go somewhere...). And I'd be fine with X-Force (Earth-616) or X-Force (Original Team) (Earth-616). Though...wasn't the M-Branch team first? Wouldn't they, technically, be the "original", albeit lesser known, team?
--GrnMarvl14 00:23, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
I now like X-Force much less 'cause of their choice to take on that team name also. ;) Ok...how's:
  1. X-Force (New Mutants) (Earth-616)
  2. X-Force (M-Branch) (Earth-616)
  3. X-Force (Strike Team) (Earth-616)
Solves the problem with the names as well as we already HAVE the page for the Strike Force team (revert from the redirect) and the appearances are already laid out. Cool? --M1shawhan 00:29, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
The split alone would make me happy. Everything else is just icing on the cake. All I'm trying to do is point out things to create problems. I'm evil like that. It's a good kind of evil, though. That's right...I'm evil in a good way.
--GrnMarvl14 00:39, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

Where's the split?Edit

How in the world did this get changed to X-Force (Strike Team) (Earth-616) WITHOUT a split occurring? Somehow...this is more confusing than what we had. --GrnMarvl14 01:14, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, what happened. I'll do it sooner or later if no one beats me to it. X-Force (New Mutants) (Earth-616) is the what we all generally agreed on, yes?--Max 03:45, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
Still works for me (unless we want to just keep it X-Force (Earth-616) like we kept the original X-Factor as X-Factor (Earth-616). But...either way).

Cypher Edit

Really? Cypher is counted as a "member" for just one mission? And Cable too? --Johnnybravo44 22:26, June 10, 2010 (UTC)

I wouldn't call either a member. Technically, X-23's not even on the team anymore (per Wolverine's statement in X-Force Vol 3 #25). The two, and X-23, are really just assisting X-Force because they have the know-how.
--GrnMarvl14 22:34, June 10, 2010 (UTC)
Makes sense.. What about Fantomex? Is he technically a member of the X-Men? --Johnnybravo44 01:49, June 11, 2010 (UTC)
He joined one of the ad-hoc teams. He's as much a member as Longneck or Forearm...whether anyone wants them to be or not. Though I guess it could be argued that THIS is an ad-hoc team...but I've never really understood where that line is drawn.
--GrnMarvl14 01:54, June 11, 2010 (UTC)
I agree that both Cypher and Cable (and X-23) are at least temporarily assigned to X-Force and could technically be counted as members. Also I've read the Marvel has lowered the standards for X-Men membership so now anyone who assists the X-Men as an X-Man. The example I heard was Aurora: she's not a fulltime team member, but she is a member and because of her superspeed she could come down from Canada and help out when needed. I think the same would hold true for Fantomex. And Legion. And the others former X-Villains (like Toad) who are on Utopia and helping as of New Mutants Vol 3 #11.

Uncanny X-Force Edit

Technically, this could be considered as another team, as not even Cyclops or Emma Frost know about it. No one knows except the members. Although I'm assuming we'll keep it to this page? --Johnnybravo44 21:55, July 16, 2010 (UTC)

I definitely see your point Johnny, but I would vote to keep it as the pages together just to avoid ANOTHER X-Force page. It is kind of a new team but also kind of a continuation of the old X-Force. At least they share the same propose, right?
--Freyseagrove 16:28, July 16, 2010
Ok. Yeah I figured it would be a lot easier to stay the same anyway. --Johnnybravo44 22:41, July 16, 2010 (UTC)
It's really just a continuation of the last team. There's a small change to the organization, but it's the same basic premise (a group of mutants actively hunting down threats to the remains of mutantkind while trying to keep their activities a secret and trying to live with the immorality of their acts).
