Talk:Lorna Magnus (Earth-58163)

Back to page

Should her page be at Lorna Dane (Earth-58163) since that's her birth name? It seems the legal standing for her changing her name to "Lorna Magnus" is shaky. --GrnMarvl14 00:07, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

I think in the House of M reality, she was either born as a Magnus, since Mags and her Mom were really together when she was born, or she was legally adopted into the royal family, which would make it a legal name change without marriage involved. We haven't heard any real proof that her first family, the Danes, even exist in the House of M....
Looking further into her history on 616, it's so convoluted what her birth name actually was. Obviously the mother and father she grew up with had the last name 'Dane', but other than that, her birth mother could have had any name. And why a couple who legally adopted a toddler would have that kid grow up calling them Aunt and Uncle is beyond me. I think it goes something like this though: Lorna's mother and the man her mother was with at her birth died in a plane crash when she was very small. Magneto is actually her biological father, who got together with her mother but didn't end up being in a relationship with her. A couple, who are either related to Lorna's mother or the man her mother was with (probably her mother), were given custody of the child, and adopted her, but had her call them Aunt and Uncle all her life. So really, Lorna had 5 parents, Magneto, her birth mother, the man who would have been her father, and her adopted mother and father.
It's tough enough to determine what's the truth for the 616 Lorna, we don't have enough backstory info on the HoM Lorna to really make a guess... though I remember it saying somewhere that she was adopted into the House of M once Magneto found out she was his daughter. Maybe she was born to her mother and named Lorna Dane, and later adopted to become Lorna Magnus. She does' call Magneto 'Daddy' in House of M #5.
I don't know, I even confused myself...

Well, while we don't have proof she was adopted by the Danes, we DO know she used that last name at some point after her mother died (though I can't recall if Dane was her mother's name or not). Her history and the history of the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver (they seemed to be Maximoffs...but I'm not too sure on that one) was discussed in the Civil War: House of M series, though it certainly wasn't as emphasized as Magneto's.
