Ultimate Game vs Comics
Edit
I believe that the comics and games are in different universes, and Bendis himself states categorically that the War of the Symbiotes story arc was the comic adaption of the video game, retconning what he said before about the Silver Sable arc. Both cannot exist at the same time since they take place in the same time frame (roughly a few months after the Suit incident), each with their own unique events, and both with some of the same events.
Events that occur in both:
- RHINO battle, with Spidey having an Eddie Headache afterward
- Venom's attack on the museum (although different in both - Venom attacks Spidey on the roof of the museum in the game, and in the museum in the comics)
- Venom captured by Trask
Points exclusion:
- In the comics, Venom is still out of control whereas at the game's conclusion he has full control of the Suit, including the White Spider on his chest.
- Trask is alive in the story, whereas the game makes it clear he dies at Venom's hands.
- Adrian Toomes is alive, whereas the game makes it clear he is at least out of the picture, if not dead, by the hands of Carnage.
Therefore that means the game's story could not have possibly happened prior to the War of the Symbiotes arc.
- In the comics, Silver Sable doesn't know who Spider-Man is. In the games, Eddie Brock tells her.
- Peter Parker is Carnage in the game, Gwen is in the comics.
- Beetle takes a Sandman sample, in the comics he takes a sample of Venom instead.
- The Beetle and Spider-Man seem to have not met before in the War of the Symbiotes storyline.
- The Green Goblin breaks into SHIELD Triskelion, whereas the Goblin breaks out in the game.
After this, whereby the differences can be excused for the sakes of adaption, the events then change:
- Spider-Man becomes Venom. This does not happen in the game.
- Gwen Stacy is Carnage, and Carnage and Venom fight, with Venom absorbing Carnage and changing into a supersized monster. In the game, Adrian Toomes injects Spider-Man with a serum that turns him into Carnage. Venom absorbs Carnage, gaining control of the Suit and receiving the white spider symbol.
Following through to conclusion, the game branches off after the Suit incident into a different storyline. I will revert the page back shortly if you can agree to the evidence I present to you. If further proof is needed, I'm asking Bendis on Twitter (you can find his twitter via his official website), or you can see the source I provided in the Notes section of the article (this source: http://uk.comics.ign.com/articles/881/881748p1.html). I'll replicate this onto the Talk Page of the article to get other people involved to get a setup working. Ggctuk 19:59, January 21, 2011 (UTC)
