History

In the altered world of the House of M, Steve Rogers lived through World War II and the years afterward, not frozen in suspended animation. Following the end of the war, Steve spent some time in the service of S.H.I.E.L.D. prior to its transformation into a mutant-run organization. Rogers became an astronaut and was the first man to walk on the moon in 1956. Steve Rogers has seen many things in his 89 years. As time has passed, Steve has withdrawn from the public eye, even though most people remember him and know who he is. Many mutants believe he was never truly given a serum and that he was in fact, one of the first mutants. With most of his friends and family dead and gone, Steve spends his time quietly, alone in his appartment in Brooklyn. For him, there will be no more wars. He has officially retired. His Earth-616 memories are not reactivated, because he was being nearly 100 years old. This spared him from a severe mental shock.
