History
The Sons of Ivaldi lived in their their forge in Mount Bellows, Nidavellir, south to the Sunless Sea,[1] and in the Caves of Svartalfheim.[2]
After he cut Sif's golden locks, Loki went to Svartalfheim, and in the Caves, asked the sons of Ivaldi to craft presents. Despite doubtful, due to the possibility for them to please the gods, they created a replacement for Sif's hair, the magical spear Gungnir, and the enchanted collapsible ship Skidbladnir. Loki would then go to Eitri and Brokk to provoke them to craft worthier present, including Mjolnir.[2]Notes
Like many Dwarves, the sons of Ivaldi are alternatively stated to inhabit Svartalfheim[2] or Nidavellir.[3]
