History

Son of Hulk

Skaar was the progeny of the Hulk and of Caiera the Oldstrong. The blast that killed Caiera turned her into dust in the Hulk's arms. After her death a cocoon containing Skaar fell into the lake of fire. After a period of time, Skaar emerged from the cocoon, appearing to be the age equivalent of a human preteen. A year later and he appeared to have grown into a teenager. He quickly grew into what seemed to be an adult after he was attacked by the Axeman Bone Dragon's flame, which at first looked like an example of his old power.

Skaar defeated Axeman Bone and his dragon with only a sword and his bare hands. Skaar, after having a confrontation with the princess Omaka, was able to speak intelligent sentences when the group was going to be attacked by Wildebots and the two formed an alliance. After sometime, he gained the power of the Oldstrong with the help of his followers. Soon after, he found himself allied with the Former King, who was saved from death and rebuilt with a majority of cybernetic parts by the Wildebots. After becoming his ally, many of the people who considered him a savior, including Omaka, lost faith in him and allied themselves with Axeman Bone.

With his Oldstrong, he managed to see the acts of death committed by everyone on the planet and intended to kill Axeman and his followers, and almost succeeded, when the Silver Surfer made a sudden return and managed to take away his Oldstrong power and revealed that Galactus was coming to the planet to consume it. He opted Skaar the chance to use the oldstrong power to revive the ancient technology of the Shadows to evacuate the planet, becoming a hero of the universe as the planet Sakaar would have enough energy to satiate Galactus' hunger for a hundred thousand years.

His mother's spirit spoke to him asking him to fight for good of the people of the planet, but Skaar insisted on revenge, consumed with rage over Axeman Bone. Through one final plea of his mother's spirit, he was asked to give up his rage, but he instead proceeded into battle, with no regard for the innocent. Caiera, using what little of her strength she had left as a spirit, used her Oldstrong power to return in a stone form of herself initially, then in the image of his father. She proceeded to defeat him with ease and asked why he insisted on being a killer instead of a attempting to make peace. He then revealed his plan of killing everyone on the planet he deemed evil after glimpsing the destruction so many people made when he briefly wielded the power of Oldstrong.

His mother, offering him one last chance of redemption, made the Silver Surfer (still being controlled by an obedience disk) bring to Galactus a being who had killed billions in order to truly grasp if he was able to succeed at his plans, showing him the consequences of his actions would result in the death of everyone on the planet by the hands of Galactus with a vision. The Surfer sent him back to Sakaar after believing he saw things his way. Caiera returned to being one with the planet, believing Skaar had taken up the Silver Surfer on his previous offer of evacuating the planet and returned his old power to him to do so. Skaar then unsuspectingly used his newly returned old power to destroy the ships, dooming everyone on the planet. He chose that the planet and his mother's soul was more important than it's inhabitants. He gave the Surfer an ultimatum, spare Sakaar or he would use his old power to increase Galactus' hunger which would cause him to consume every planet the Surfer managed to save. The Surfer decided to leave, informing everyone on the planet of his actions and how they would be subsequently responsible for the deaths of billions. Caiera returned to him once more and denounced him as her son for his decision and exiled him from the planet. She then absorbed the power that made Sakaar and waited for Galactus to consume her.

Planet Skaar

During the time of Skaar's exclusion from his planet, he had been warped to the solar plains of Earth. Mister Fantastic saw his arrival as well as the presumed Hulk daughter, Carmilla Black, foretelling of his gender and name to Norman Osborn. Arriving on Earth, he first attacked a helicopter for killing an innocent coyote. Running off to a desert like region, Skaar came into fight with his aunt, She-Hulk, and the Fantastic Four - Minus Sue Richards due of her holding off his father miles away. Later, a bomb sent by Osborn collided with the area the Four engaged battle and sent Skaar miles away. Transformed into what seemed to be his human-like form, Skaar was left in the wilderness. In his human form he met and befriended two local children. One of the siblings injured himself on a cliff and the younger sibling rushed to nearby police for help. Mistaking Skaar for a threat, one of the officers tasered him and proceeded with arresting him, provoking him to transform into his original form, causing his presence to be felt by his father several miles away. After running into and attacking the Warbound, Skaar asked to kill his father. As his father appeared immediately to confront him, Kate Waynesboro replied, "You don't."

The Hulk, possessing his Green Scar persona, confronted his son in battle. The Warbound initially decided not to interfere, but decided to intervene as Kate pointed out their battle was going to endanger a nearby power plant. Korg tried to calm the Hulk down but was instead assaulted, grabbed and hammered against Skaar. Afterword Korg told both of them to state their grievances. Skaar stated the reason he wanted revenge on Hulk was because he felt he abandoned him and his world to death. The Hulk responded in his savage persona, shouting while he kept talking, Skaar disgusted with his father's diminished intelligence asked if he even knew who he was. The Hulk exclaimed that he was the Hulk, the strongest one there is. Skaar, even further disappointed, claimed he had come to kill a "king not a clown". The Hulk then grabbed Skaar's face and began to remember Caiera and became World Breaker once more, but was pushed back into Bruce Banner's mind and regressed back into the savage Hulk. Skaar, wanting the scar to return was quickly ignored by the childlike incarnation and left. The Warbound were trying to stop a nuclear catastrophe at the nearby plant when they were unexpectedly aided by the Hulk and Skaar. Skaar, using the Oldpower, sealed the containment building and saved the workers at the plant. Elloe asked why he used the sword when he had the Old power. Skaar responded saying it was more fun, while impaling the Hulk. Skaar then left claiming he would come back when there was someone worth killing.

Powers and Abilities

Powers

  • Superhuman Strength: As the son of 'The Strongest There Is' Skaar presumably possesses the capacity for vast levels of physical strength. Skaar has been seen punching beings miles away, slaying the dragons of Sakaar, overturning tanks, and fighting toe-to-toe with Ben Grimm with a smile upon his face. With the 'Old Power' he has been seen shaking Sakaar's mantle, and lifting moon-sized rock figures.
  • Superhuman Stamina: During his time searching for the Axeman, and trying to protect and survive all in one, Skaar has shown the ability to keep up his stamina for high portions of time.
  • Superhuman Durability: In addition to his Hulk-like strength, Skaar's body possesses a high degree of resistance to injury and pain, as well as an unique immunity to all things heat-related. Skaar's skin is capable of withstanding extreme heat without blistering and great impact.
  • Regenerative Healing Factor: Despite his high resistance to physical injury, it is possible to wound Skaar. He is capable of regenerating damaged or destroyed areas of his body with far greater speed and efficiency than an ordinary human. Wounds that would be deadly to most other beings take just a short time for Skaar to heal. During a battle with Axeman Bone, he was impaled in the stomach, only to heal quickly and hunt him down.
  • Rapid Maturity: Shortly after Skaar's cocoon left his mother's body, he emerged from the burning waters at a preteen age. A year later he had grown to become an teenage/adult-like figure.
  • Transformation: The Son of Hulk can transform into a human form, a twelve year old boy; human Skaar has said that Skaar kept his alter-ego suppressed until Osborn's bomb. When human Skaar gets angry, it triggers his transformation into his original form. To what extent Skaar's transformation resembles his father's is unknown.
  • Old Power: From his mother, Skaar inherited the ability to wield the Old Power, letting him channel the tectonic energies of a planet, granting him mastery over earth and stone. With the Old Power, he can break or mend the earth as he sees fit, turn his body to stone, and call up magma from the depths.

    Abilities

  • Skaar is a self-trained weapons master.

Notes

  • Skaar's tattoos mark him as a true member of the Shadow People, his mother's race.
