History

The man known as Saber Tooth was a member of the Imperial Japanese army during World War II. In the fall of 1943, he established a secret base within an underground cavern located in Death Valley, California. From there, he used an underground tunnel to smuggle weapons and explosives into the United States by submarine for the purposes of attacking the country. As he was located near one of the many wartime internment camps where Japanese-Americans were kept in an attempt to contain spies, Saber Tooth took to assisting Japanese loyalists in escaping the camp in order to assist in the attacks.

Saber Tooth had poor luck in preparing this operation during a time when the Sub-Mariner was on vacation in a nearby town. The hero tracked an escaping Japanese prisoner to the secret hideout and clashed with Saber Tooth and his men. Namor was knocked out in the fight and taken aboard the sub, but when he later revived, he easily fought off the Japanese sailors and Saber Tooth. Namor then tossed a live torpedo at them and escaped out the sub's torpedo tube. The resulting explosion killed Saber Tooth and his men.[1]
