During Ultron's World take over, Banner already had control over the Hulk and didn't want him to resurface under any circumstances. When the second generation of Avengers wanted his help to defeat Ultron, he refused, until the group managed to attract Ultron's attention. In fear of the situation, Banner turned into the Hulk once more, destroying Ultron.

Somehow, Ultron was able to return and retook his World domination. Hulk (now with Banner's intellect) sent Kang to alert the Avengers of the past to go to the future, but Kang lies to them, telling the team that their children were the cause of the danger. The past Avengers manage to get to the future, where they meet the Next Avengers, Hulk, Tony and Spider-Girl. Tony convinces the team that Kang lied to them, and tells them the truth: that due the final shadown between Ultron and Kang's forces, Kang caused the timeline to break, causing them to live in the same day forever.

Because of this anomaly, the Avengers of the past return to the past, but remembering what happened, then traveling back to the future, and warning Ultron of the danger if he wins. Ultron tells the Avengers that he will win anyways, and they return to the past. When he was about to fight Kang, he realizes the importance of reality and loses. Returning everything to normal. Then, Kang (now as Immortus), makes his move, killing Hulk and Tony, while the young Avengers avenge them, battling and killing Immortus.
