HistoryEdit

The past history of Remy LeBeau of Earth-9997 is similar to that of his Earth-616 counterpart.

In recent history, Gambit was one of the many super-humans affiliated with Lord Sunfire's Pack and therfore trusted with a piece of the Absorbing Man following the villain's rampage through Washington D.C., which ended in the death of the Avengers. Gambit was murdered, and the piece of Creel eventually ended up in the hands of the Tong of Creel a death cult seeking to reassemble the Absorbing Man.

There are conflicting reports as to the exact cause of Gambit's death. According to the records maintained by the Watcher and viewed by X-51, Gambit was killed sharing a kiss with Rogue. However, according to the Beast, Gambit was killed by an assassins bullet, a hit made on him because of his career as a thief. If the latter is the truth, it's most likely that he was shot and killed by a member of the Tong. But this too is a theory at best.

Gambit's soul would end up in the Realm of the Dead, where he would join Mar-Vell's army of dead heroes in his quest to kill Death and build a Paradise in the Realm of the Dead. Following the heroes victory and the creation of Paradise, Gambit's whereabouts are unknown.
